Metropolis the RPG

A limousine pulls up in front of Kord Industries. A young man, dashing, good looking, and confident steps out. His suit impeccable, his demeanor pleasant. He walks to the door and enters. He proceeds to the desk.

"Good afternoon, welcome to Kord Industries. Can I help you?"

"Yes. I am here to see Mr. Kord. Mr. Theodore Kord. I believe I had an appointment."

"Ah, yes sir. Mr. Kord is in his private lab. Let me send him word. Please take the elevator to the 15th floor. His office is directly in front of you."

The woman taps out a series of commands on her keyboard as the visitor boards the elevator.

------------------------------------------------------------

Ted was sitting lazily at his bench. Tinkering with his latest toy.

"Sir, you have a gentleman here. He is waiting in your office."

"A gentleman? Did I have an appointment today? Bloody 'ell, I did. How could I forget." Ted leaps to his feet and starts to get dressed again.

In a moment he is bursting into his office. "Sorry, totally lost track of time, mate. Ted Kord, pleased to meet you. Mr Fox, is it?"

"Actually, Lucius couldn't make it. I am Bruce. Bruce Wayne. I am very excited about our possible joint venture on the new aerospace project."

"I didn't realize you were coming. Well, that's wonderful. Hungry? I worked straight through lunch. Let me get us some food and we can discuss specifics."

Clark looked at the glasses confused. They were defiantely the pair that he had lost at the lab incident. "No they're my glasses." I thought I had lost them, but it seems someone found them and returned them to me." he told her as he stood up and walked over to her desk.

"I'm glad to see that you made it out of there alright Lois." he told her. "When I came to, i had been seperated from you and was virtually blind without these. Luckily I was able to make it home, got cleaned up and into some clean clothes." he told her as he continued to look the card over and wonder who could have sent them and if they knew his secret.

It was another mystery that he was going to need to solve. But for now he wanted to see if Lois noticed the post it that was on her computer screen, the one that he had taken great pains to write in a style different from his own and attached there at superspeed so no one else would notice. A note that said simply.

Your place.
Midnight.
A Friend.

Ted and Bruce sit at a table eating lunch and going over sketches.

"To be perfectly honest Ted, Lucius gave me these designs, and told me you would understand them. I myself get the gist, but really, it's all a little over my head. Why exactly do spacesuits need to be armored anyway?"

"Good question. Seems some people in high places believe there is hostile threat in space. Whether it be from aliens or rival countries."

"Space pirates? So they want armor in case we run into Jayne Cobb and River Tam then? Seems an odd request."

"Well, certainly one to keep the conspiracy theorists buzzing. Seems they most likely have some secret motive, some secondary goal. But, I intend to do me best ta keep 'em honest. I won't design anything lethal. Non-lethal only. Anyway, I have this design in mind, see they want designs that will be viable in any scenario, yeah? So I did a bit o' research. Seems they most durable and adaptable things on Earth are bugs. Think about it, yeah?

Bruce, looking over the sketches before him grins and looks up.

"You know Ted, if I didn't know better, I would think you might be this Blue Beetle guy I read about."

Ted coughs a bit and grins trying to play it off.

"Yeah, Bruce and maybe you're The bleedin' Batman mate." Ted laughs.

"Don't blow my cover, I'll keep yours." Bruce locks eyes with Ted, grinning like a devil. "Thank you for lunch Ted. I have to get back to the new branch of Wayne Industries. Grand opening is tonight. I would love if you could come. Unfortunately it is black tie, but I will push through. Might do me well to have someone there that doesn't rely on me for a paycheck."

"Sounds smashing. I will have to check my little black book. But I am pretty sure I can make it."

"Excellent. Listen, Ted, mind if I borrow these sketches, pass them on to Lucius?

"Not at all. I trust you, Bruce. I don' know why, but something tells me that you are a good man. See you tonight Batman."

"That you will Blue Beetle."

The two laugh and shake hands. Ted pats Bruce firmly on the shoulder as he steps into the elevator both nodding.

Both men have the same thought as they depart.

Did he know?

Lois

Irritated at the sudden burst of wind through an open window Lois looked around, then paused. There weren't any windows that opened on this floor. "Weird," she muttered to herself. Turning to look at Clark Lois admitted, "very lucky for you indeed, especially with all the cops to show up and eep everybody there for forever. I don't understand how you managed to avoid the hassle. Especially without your glasses."

Shrugging she turned to look at her computer screen. She'd seen something appear on the screen and figured it was an email or inter office note. Instead it was something else. "Looks like I have a stalker..." she murmured. Well she had a shit-ton of mace and judo classes to teach any attacker a thing or two. And the lastest and greatest in personal weapons. a TAser.. military issue. Gonna be a heck of a tingly suprise for any attacker.

"Well, I gotta go. Things to do, people to pester you know." Sliding from her seat she stood once more, brushing her hands across her dress and smoothing out invisible wrinkles.

Ollie

Ollie hung the would be terrorist out in front of the police station after "torturing" the man for hours with but a steak, a popsicle and a blowtorch. Ollie couldnt keep the smirk off his face after he shoved the popsicle in the "victim's" mouth. However he got what he needed. If only they have enough time. He hit the quick dial to Bart.

"Get Flash and Boy Scout and meet me at the piers."

He placed the note on the chest of the terrorist. It said Missed One underlined with an Arrow.

Ted returned to his lab. He seemed concerned, but focused.

"Do you think Master Wayne knows your secret sir?" Skeets chirped worriedly.

"Nah. Couldn't very well now could he?" Ted looked worried. He busied himself with the tools on his bench. Putting finishing touches on his new wings. "I mean, not like he could have figured it out. We've been very cautious. Well, okay, a little cautious. I thought I played it off well."

"Do you really think he could be The Batman?"

"No. Not likely. I mean, I suppose, it could be possible. I mean, if there is anyone that can afford to be a vigilante in a fancy suit it would certainly be Bruce Wayne. His pocket change is sufficient to run most major companies. But come on, that pretty boy? No way. Might cut into dating super models."

"As always Sir, you are definately right. Air headed billionaire playboy..."

"All right Skeet, looks like these wings might just work. We will have to give 'em a test run later. But first I need to find a date. Can't show up at a social gala stag."

"Might I suggest Ms. Kramer sir?"

"After the last date, when the insect habitat got busted by the super-sonic lock pick we were playing with back then? Not a chance. She wouldn't stop hitting me. And that damn umbrella hurt! Who hits a man with an umbrella? Really?"

"Ms. Marsh then?"

"Married. I would like to get a hold of that little minx from earlier, but oh well. What else ya got?"

"Ms. Carter is in town this week. And you just had her over for lunch. Perhaps she would be interested."

"Great so Mike can kill me? Well, fine, guess it is the only option. Give her a buzz, have the car pick her up and bring her to get a nie dress."

"Excellent sir. Right away."

Diana Prince

Walking into the bull pen Agent Diana Prince looked around, her hazel eyes flickering across the room and finding her target in seconds. Brushing past a rather attractive female she paused for a moment and swatched her walk by, then away. 'Nice ass,' she thought to herself, 'I'd love to see her in a strip club..'

Moving through the people she stopped beside her intended quarry. "Mr. Kent, I'm Agent Prince. I have some questions for you." In the blink of an eye the crowded, and very noisy, room dropped to a dead silence. So quiet even a the proverbial pin was afraid to drop.

Clark Kent: April 11th, 2014

Clark was shocked to see Diana again so soon. He looked at his watch, he had more then enough time to meet with Lois. "Sure thing Agent Prince. You want to sit at my desk, or is this something you want to take to the briefing room?" he asked her. He had noticed how quiet things had gotten and he didn't want anyone to hear what she may have to ask, in case it got to a personal level.

While he waited for a reply his cell phone began to ring. "Excuse me a moment." he told Diana and then looked at the screen. It was an incoming text, but he did not know from who. He quickly read the message though that informed him to go to the pier and meet Green Arrow.

What Clark didn't know is that this information had been passed to him by the individual known only as The Oracle, one of the Green Arrow's agents. She had intercepted GA's call, since Bart never picked up and sent it to Clark. After reading the message, Clark began to realize that he might be a bit late for his appointment that night. Even with his speed he couldn't be everywhere at once.

Diana

"I'd suggest someplace I little more.. Private. Without monitoring equipment. Except what I have with me." Agent Prince stated. With a crisp and clean skirt suit on she tended to turn a little icy around people. Which suited her chosen profession just fine. Looking around the room she glared at several individuals whom suddenly found that counting ceiling and floor tiles was actually quite productive.

"And no cell phones, or pagers. I'll be needing you undivided attention for a bit. So grab coffee now if you want any."

Clark nodded as he put the cell phone in his desk drawer. "I think I know just the place." He told her as he pushed his glasses up and closer to his face, readjusting them. He then picked up the blue jacket of his suit, and put in on over his white shirt and made sure his red tie was straight. "Come with me." he told her.

A few moments later and after a quick elevator ride to the roof. The two were outside, with just the Globe that was the symbol of the Daily Planet above them. There was only one doorway, so they'd know if anyone would show up. And it provided her with the Privacy she had asked for. "So How can I help you D?" he asked using the nickname that he... that Kal had given her so many years ago.

Diana

"Agent Prince," Diana politely corrected Clark. "It's business this time. So we need to remain formal." Pulling out a small digital recorder she turned it on and began. "Could you please tell me what you saw happen from the moment I appraoched you until you returned her to the Daily Planet? Everything, Please. Anything you remember no matter how bizarre may be important."

Clark Kent: April 11th, 2014

"My appologies Agent Prince." Clark nodded as he spoke. He took a deep breath as he did his best to recall the events leading up to the attack. He told Agent Prince how he and the other reporters had just arrived and were there for the special announcement that Lex was about to make. Of course they would first have to see the demonstartion of his new weapon first. He then told her about the sound he remembered hearing, it sounded like thunder, but he knew it wasn't. Then the explosion and him jumping to try and push her and Lois Lane out of the way. "Something must have happened at that point, because the next thing I remember was a lot of smoke and dust. I had lost my glasses, and only thing I could think of was getting out of there. Which in the chaos it really wasn't that hard to get out of there, even if I was partially blind." he told her.

Diana Prince

"I see. So you don't really remember anything of the attack." Diana said. "Nothing at all? You didn't see any logo. Hear any of the attackers talking? An accent or anything?"

Clark thought about it for a moment, tried to remember every detail he could about the attack. Everything that might have happened before he turned into Superman and went to save the day that is. "I remember they were all in black. Even the helicopters they were in. That leads me to believe they were trying to hide who they were. I also remember hearing someone yell for everyone to get on the ground as well as gunfire." Clark told her.

But the more he thought about it, the more his memory cleared things up for him. "There was something about his voice.... very disctinctive accent."

Diana Prince

"They spoke in English then? At least the ones you heard speaking." She asked. "If you can think of anything else. No matter how trivial, call me." She said, handing over a business card.

"It was definately English, maybe a middle Eastern accent." he told her as he took her card. He was surprised that she didn't have anymore questions for him. After all she made it seem as if it would take more time. Course maybe if he knew more it would have been longer. "What about that group from Quark that are claiming that they are responsible?" he asked her.

"If it was them, they'll be trying to get that suit out of the country as soon as possible so they can take it apart and learn it's secrets so they can make more of them." he said, although he knew full well that Diana knew this as well.

Diana

"One more question, if you don't mind." She asked, continuing on as if he hadn't even spoken. "Where did you get the glasses and when? We don't have any files indicating you got them. And I'll need to know what the prescription for them is as well. For our files....." She finished, ominously.

CLark was taken back from her question. Not only wasn't one he would have thought she would have asked, but because he did in fact get a prescription for them. He went to one of the local Optomatrists and purposely failed a test so that he could be considered near sighted. "I don't see why that would be of concern to the government. However..." Clark reached into his pocket, removed his wallet and pulled out a business card for the doctor and handed it to Diana. "Here's his card. He's actually a very good doctor you might like to use him." he told her

OOC: Decided to add the failing of the eye exam in tribute to Lois and Clark the new Adventures of Superman where Clark did have an eye doctor and would go to regular appointments :)

Diana Prince

Taking the card Diana stuffed it into a pocket. "So my question is this. If you need to wear glasses, how did you manage to evade all the weapons fire, collapsing buildings, and other people. get out and back to your place, get cleaned up, change clothes and get here, in the time alloted. You'd pretty much have to have flown. And without your glasses. An Interesting feat with, but to do it without.."

"Interesting," she murmured to herself.

"Just because I'm near sighted, doesn't mean I'm totally blind." Clark told her. "Besides they didn't fire at anyone per se, in fact they only fired in the air from what I can remember."

"As to how I got through all that, I suppose I was just lucky." he added. But he could tell what that look on her face was. It was similar to the one that Lois got when she could smell a story.

Diana

"Those bullets hit several people. One of whom has died. But we'll be talking more later, Kal.." Diana said as she left the roof and went back down the stairs.

Clark watched as Diana left, surprised that she went down the stairs instead of the elevator. But he really didn't think about that to much, he was more concerned about the fact that she could almost sense he was lying. "Keeyping this secret is going to be harder then we thought Jor-El" he thought to himself.

He then looked at his watch and saw that if he was going to meet Oliver he needed to move soon. He stepped into the elevator and returned to the city beat and his desk. He grabbed his phone to and some of his things and left the Planet for the day.

After leaving the Planet he continued to walk towards his apartment. Then when he thought he had gone far enough he dipped into an alley, checked things quickly with his x-ray vision and super hearing and changed into his alter ego.... Superman at superspeed. Not long after he was landing on the roof of one of the warehouses at the pier. There was Ollie.... Green Arrow standing there waiting. "Evening Green Arrow, you wanted to see me?"

Ollie

"Take a look at the pier tell me what you think" Ollie motioned his head at the pier accoss from them. He then turned his shades down just a bit as he leaned over letting one of his feet rest on the raised edge. "To me it smells of terrorists." He then grabbed his collapsable bow from his leg holster.

Diana

After leaving the Daily Planet Agent Prince made a stop at a local alley. Nothing big and fancy. Just an empty alley, with lots of big empty boxes to obstruct onlookers view.

A flash of lighting and a dust storm later and Wonder Woman was off and running. Leaping upwards she kicked her way even higher off buildings until she was flying over top of buildings. LAnding nearby she watched and waited. Clark Kent was hiding something. And if he was in league with the terrorists, she bring him down.

With luck it wasn't long later that Clark Kent walked into the alley she herself had used not long before. And then she saw the streak or red and blue rip upwards and out towards the water.

Taking to the air herself she stayed lower, using buildings to mask her following him. Landing nearby she watched his meeting with the man in green with the bow.

Superman looked towards the peir that Green Arrow had pointed out. He scanned the buidlings with his x-ray vision. So far they were mostly empty, that was until he came upon one. It was surrounded by several guards, even more then what would be considered a security team. "There's easily thirty of them outisde..." he told Oliver and then looked into the buidling itself.

There was only five men inside, and they seemed to be standing around a rather large container, similar to what could be seen on freight trains. Only thing was that he couldn't see through it. But judging from it's size, it could be used to store Luthor's war suit that had been stolen earlier today. "I think we found your terrorists." he added.
