The world has learned America can no longer play the role of global military hegemon. We still have the mightiest, most expensive military in human history, we still have a global network of 800 bases, but there is not much we can do with it all, or are willing to. Our threats of action are empty. We cannot win a war against a definitely inferior power. We have turned against our allies. Nobody can really rely, any more, on American military protection.

So what comes next? A multipolar world, or the emergence of a new hegemon?

China says it will resume some ties with Taiwan after visit by opposition leader
BANGKOK (AP) — China said Sunday it would resume some ties it had suspended with Taiwan such as direct flights and imports of Taiwanese aquaculture products following a visit by the Beijing-friendly opposition leader of the self-ruled island.

The Taiwan Work Office under China’s Communist Party issued a statement saying it would explore setting up a longstanding communication mechanism between the Communist Party and Taiwan’s Kuomingtang Party. It said it will facilitate the import of Taiwan’s aquaculture products that it had previously banned.

Cheng Li-wun, the head of the Kuomingtang, and China’s President Xi Jinping held a high-profile meeting Friday during which they called for peace, without offering specifics. China claims the island as part of its territory and hasn’t ruled out the use of force to annex it.

Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council, which oversees the relationship with China, said the measures that were announced, such as promoting a communication mechanism, were “political transactions” between the two parties that circumvented the government of Taiwan.

Taiwan knows they can no longer rely on AMERICA.

It's already a multipolar world, isn't it? You have the US, the EU, AUKUS, BRICS although this is dying due to the Indo Chinese conflicts reducing it to just the Russian and Chinese versions, the "Global South"(whatever that means)...
What the recent events have shown are the massive (mis) assumptions that fueled the globalization agenda which, unfortunately, played right into the hands of China.

Would have thought globalization played into the hands of the CAPITALISTS.

It did but, IMHO, boosted China's economy enough for it to start rattling the global order. On second thought, maybe it is the natural evolution. So yeah, not saying it's right or wrong.
Bottom line is you have these loose alliances (forgot to mention the QUAD) that I think are the harbingers of a multipolar world. I do agree that every country must learn to stand on it's own feet and not keep depending on western nations. So that naturally will lead to multipolar world order.
