Missing a day on the pill...

Okay, so I have a question I would like to get answered. I don't know if I'm just being paranoid or whatever, but I still need to ask to just feel beter about this.

Today, my boyfriend and I had sex, I'm on the pill. He didn't use a condom, but he didn't cum inside of me. We finished with a blowjob. Today, I got home and realized that I had forgotten to take my pill. I've forgotten to take my pill before and I just doubled up the next day, but it has never happened on the day that I had sex. I plan to just double up tomorrow.

My question is, is it possible for me to get pregnant this way? Am I just being overly paranoid?

It's possible, but unlikely. I'd recommend you take the pill you missed NOW rather than waiting til tomorrow, and then take tomorrow's pill at the normal time. I have done this and never had a problem.

Thank you for your answer! I actually just took it now, I researched a bit more and all sites said I should just take it when I remember. It's been almost three hours since I should have taken my pill, but if all places I've been looking has been recommending it, I decided I should just do it.

As long as you're not on the mini-pill, you have a 12-hour window to take the pill with "no" chance of ovulating (obviously there is always a small chance that the pill doesn't work which is why I use " ")
Yes, every one is correct - you should always take your pill as SOON as you remember it.

If you miss one completely (vomit, or start to take an antibiotic or other medication that affects the pill) and you end up taking two pills the next day (which is the correct thing to do) you will NOT be protected from pregnancy for 7 "pill days". "Pill days" are the hormone tablets - the 'period' pills don't count.

If you're terribly worried, there is always the morning after pill.

well, the pill isn't a 100% guarantee...you can totally get pregnant even if you consistently take the pill for years.

so, yeah, its possible he could have impregnated you even though he didn't orgasm inside of you...semen still tends to leak out in most men through pre-cum.

nothing is a 100% guarantee. Not even having your tubes tied. All you can do is do the best you can to remember to take it.

Personally, I keep mine in the shower. I shower every day, because I can't stand to go out if I don't. It's easy to remember that way = )

Unless the guy has ejaculated recently (he hasn't peed in between ejaculations), there's no sperm in his precum. It's a myth that's perpetuated because it's possible for precum to contain sperm when the guy's ejaculated recently, and thus get someone pregnant. The chances of getting pregnant even when he's ejaculated recently are very low. though.

I wouldn't worry about it, Iris. Keep taking the pill, and if you're not ready to be parents, use a good back-up method like condoms.

You know, I think it's good to be paranoid when it comes to birth control. Seeking input is a sign you care and are trying to be responsible about preventing unwanted pregnancy. By asking as soon as possible, you give yourself the chance to get Plan B/the morning after pill when it's warranted.

We found the right amount of paranoia by using the pill AND condoms until well after we were married. In those years, there were quite a few times that I missed a pill or forgot I was on antibiotics, so the condoms ensured we didn't freak out as much as we would have otherwise.
