Callie was storming around her home, her long, blue hair casting tendril-like shadows on the stone walls as she circled the large fire in the main room. Above it was the large cauldron she used primarily for experimenting new spells and concoctions. Quite the cliche but in all the years of concentrating on spellcasting, she found that there was some truth in that cauldrons were the best option for large amounts of various ingredients.
Although it seemed Callie had been an Sorceress all her life, she has only dedicated herself to the art around ten years ago. A naive eighteen year old on the cusp of getting married in an arranged event; he had raped her the night before and had left her mind reeling at the dark future ahead of her. However, she also knew her life would not be worth living if she continued living in her little village after rejecting a marriage. After her future husband fell asleep, not bothering even to clean up his spilled seed from what would of been their marital bed, she had left hastily, not even packing many clothes, not saying goodbye.
Now twenty-eight, she had lived alone, delving into the magical arts and closing her eyes to the outside world. Only meeting with other spellcasters occasionally, she had no real friends, only partners in which she'd trade secrets and ideas with once every few months. Weirdly, Callie preferred this lonely life, which was a striking difference to the one she had led before eighteen. Funny how life changed you.
Tonight was an important one, however. After purchasing a few books from another Sorceress she had met with mere weeks ago, she had finally come across something worth her time in the dusty pages. A challenge. To summon a demon to serve her, and be company. Why not? The spell promised the summoned demon would be even able to speak her language, and would be obedient to her every word. She had been preparing for tonight for days now, and finally she felt ready.
Closing her eyes and walking to the opposite side of the room, she double-checked everything. It was a complicated procedure and if anything went wrong...well. The book did not specify, but it warned the reader that anything could happen. Callie had a sense of fear at reading the dire warning, but had shrugged it away. It was time to challenge her magical abilities.
A mere hour later and Callie finished off the five incantations needed. Wiping her brow - she had been sweating with concentration - she watched at the cauldron belched and boiled rapidly, a thick purple vapour filling the room.
