I just posted this in a thread on the GB....

Officials in San Diego County had ordered evacuations of 250,000 households in the paths of three fires

That number doesn't even reflect the numbers from La and north of LA.


Tens of thousands people who are not affected yet have turned out to volunteer to help at the stadiums which are now full or filling with people.

The fire called "magic" due to it starting near magic mountain theme park has now worked its way down. It appears that it headed towards Simi Valley area.

The fire in Arrowhead is a raging inferno. Pine forest with homes built into the holls of the forest. Fire crews working so hard they can't even report in. Hundreds of homes are gone, a whole town completely evacuated is currently in the fire's path. The prediction is the whole town could be burnt to the ground.

They interviewed a man who was standing in what was left of his house. he stayed and tried to save it. He said he had lived there for forty years...there is nothing left, burnt completely to the ground.

Camp pendleton, (where I was stationed for some time when I was in the Marines) is on full alert evacuation status.

So far reported....about 30 wounded and only one dead. Pretty impressive consider the sheer amount of devistation happening everywhere.

We are pretty safe for now, but we are lookinng at the "magic" fire to see what its going to do. If it does make it to Simi, then the worst might still be ahead for us. Right now we are fairly safe.
