Thunderstorms have been an excellent plot device for me, leading to a perennially popular series, and an inciting element in my oft mentioned She-Male Babysitter story.

Timely, seasonal (expect a Summer Lovin' contest ideas post about them soonish).

The wet clothes if caught in the storm obviously work.
Storm watching works.
Storm chasing has led to successful movies, so why not in Lit?
Scared and needing comforting/protection?
What happens when the lights go out?

Thoughts?

Wow. This brings back memories. Back when I was a young single guy, I was the occasional lover of a married woman in an open marriage.
After a while I ended up working for her and found she had a phobia of thunder and lightning. I also found out that sexual stimulation would ease her fears, coupled with ear plugs and being in a windowless room.
I spent many an evening on my knees in the ladies room.

I can visualize this. You should write it. If you don't, I'd offer to steal it, but my existing to do list is already pretty long.

I kind of already have. The character Angela in my story Getting Busy is based on that woman and it includes the thunderstorm phobia. In fact both of the women in that story are based on former lovers. I just changed the names.

roommates/study group/step sisters

Two young women have been living together/working together for a bit but they don’t really get along. If they’re roommates, they need the split rent or it’s a requirement for dorms. Study group: got assigned together. Step sisters: they play nice to keep their parents happy

Whatever the dynamic, one of them is not used to Severe thunderstorms and glomps onto the other woman who is so used to them, she’s barely even phased. She comforts her scared partner

…but scared partner doesn’t want to admit they are scared and need some comfort so they try to twist it: they claim they are bored and know their partner is crushing on them hard so they figured they’d have some fun with them.

The non scared partner is a bit annoyed as they thought they were bonding but the kisses feels really good…and whenever a lightning bolt gets close, they can turn the tables.

The next day, scared partner still doesn’t want to thank or admit they were scared but does ask how often the storms are in the Midwest and partner lets them know that this time of year it could be as many as several times a week

supernatural: woman lives alone on a mountain and lately there’s been tons of storms up there so the town sends a group to make sure she’s okay.

Turns out she’s been fucking a storm god. The group thinks she’s making a noble sacrifice: selling her dignity to keep the town safe…but really she just loves fucking him and literally making the world shake

can I react with a double   to this one?

The thunderstorm can mirror the bedroom (or wherever the sex is). The foreplay is the hot humidity, possibly still with a clear sky. Then they see the thick cloud rolling. Ever seen an arcus cloud rolling in from a clear sky? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arcus_cloud

It approaches as the inevitable sex they're going to have, making their haste with the foreplay and taking off the clothes, helped by the winds whipping up into strong gusts. The clouds cover them, and the world holds it's breath as they watch each other. The rains start beating down a rhythm as they can't hold themselves back any longer to do a wet rhythm of their own.

Lightning is seen in the distance, the flashes and far away rumble increasing until we see it fork across the skies, their desire electric and yet their ultimate pleasure not reached. The bedroom lighting up brighter than the day before darkness returns even harder, with the loud crackle of the thunder.

Then the climax where a huge lightning bolt strikes close, shaking the world on it's foundations as both their senses are overloaded by the orgasms.

Repeat until it starts to fade with them in each others arms.

This makes me think of Disney's Fantasia animated version of Beethoven's "Pastoral" fifth symphony, where the on-screen characters react to the storm sounds in Ludwig van's music. I can imagine a porn version where the action mirrors the soundtrack. I don't know if that is a valid Lit project, though. Might be tough to work into prose. But it would be awesome if someone could pull it off.

Okay true story time.
In Florida, thunderstorms are just part of the day, from June to Septermber.
When my wife and I were dating, we would often visit the local parks with nature trails. A favorite had a boardwalk out through the mangrove swamps and at one end, it had a observation tower at the edge of the bay, so you could watch the ospreys or look for dolphins, manatees etc. Perhaps twenty-five feet up.
When the storm rolled through, all the other visitors headed for the parking lot. My wife and I ended up at that tower as the storm rolled in and we had the most epic sex at the top of that tower. One of those amazing days we still talk about now, 35 years later.

Sttrangers seeking shelter from a sudden storm… leads to close proximity and temptation.

Maybe a couple are camping in a tent. The storm lets rip in the middle of the night. A guy (stranger? friend?) comes to their tent because his tent is leaking or maybe in a gully and totally flooded. Maybe it’s cold so hyperthermia is a risk. They let him in. He thanks them, strips off most of his wet clothes and lays down. The husband doesn’t want to lay next to another guy, so the wife winds up in the middle of the small crowded tent. She half wakes up to the feel of a hand on her hip and a hardon pressed against her ass. In her half-awake fog she instinctively pusher her ass back and opens her legs a little...

or there's the "not afraid to try bi" (writing that is) version, where hubby DOES go in the middle (thinking that he is protecting wifey from any shenanigans). It is hubby who half wakes up to the feel of a hand on his hip and a hardon pressed against his ass. In his half-awake fog he instinctively pushs his ass back and opens his legs a little...of course, the noise wakes wifey up, and it turns into a threesome.

I know it's a tangent, but it reminds me of those camping days where you're in a tent in nature. You wake up from the storm, the rain thrumming so hard on the canopy it is deafeningly loud. It it pitch black, and you can literally not see your hand in front of your face The lightning being blinding, and it doesn't matter, adding it's even deeper voice to the cacophony of sound.

Maybe your GF didn't want to have sex on the camping for fear of being overheard. Or your friends thinking being around to hear the infidelity in case you would cheat on your SO. Now in the darkness the other body is close and warm. You can hear the screams, or are screaming yourself from pleasure, the only other one that can feel the screams absolutely taking out your soul as they fuck you senseless.

You know. A casual camping Friday.
