First a presumption: You guys like/love where you live - and stay for that reason and probably family too. A comfort zone. That's what most people do - live where it makes them comfortable. They move when they become uncomfortable.

Lets see why i live here where i do ... its cheap and close to the double value american dollar. Family... yeah right i got booted from my family for becoming Christian, they're athiest and hate me now. Comfort zone ...not living in the most bible hating area of the province known as the bible belt, its been hit so hard by the evngelism of the surrounding bible schools that you evcen mention religion and your likely to get your head ripped off and shit down your neck.

Have you guys (any other can pipe on in here too) ever "seriouslly considered" living elswhere?

I have lived in 9 of the 10 provinces and one of the now three territories.

Me? I have never, prior to NYC "moved big time" to anywhere, for any reason other than a lark - schooling for instance - or because I've been forced to - the service for instance. And actually though we do love it here in NYC - this was a personal business move - I knew it would be well worth it financially speaking. It secured my family.

But still - home is Northern Va and DC - probably always will be - but after making that big move up here - I'd move just about anywhere if the added security to my family was worth the effort.

Sparky I love where I live.

And you are correct in a number of your assumptions.

Spent two of my university years "away" as they say here then got posted all over the f-ing place while in the forces. Even here. The largest military base in the British commonwealth is half an hour down the road.

I would move "away" for the right amount of financial gain or security but this would always be "home".

Fredericton is a pretty great little city even from a view far less biased than mine. Two universities, great mueseums, thriving art community, great business growth, a burgeoning technological sector, night life and it is one of the prettiest and cleanest places I have ever been. Ninety per cent of my family is within a two hour drive (for good and bad LOL).

I could leave it for the right situation but only for a while.

Yeah I hate being romote of family...

NYC is like a multi-edged sword - they all want to come visit (just when you don't want them to) and when they get here the expense of things (parking and hotel room if they can't stay with us) is rough. But primary family, those under our/my roof - is always the priority.
