Musketeer Immortal (closed)

He stepped closer to her, resting a hand on her shoulder

"Don't worry too much about it. Even if I do not win, I will make sure that you will be able to escape from him. My brothers will find you and help you. But then again, I doubt that I would lose, especially knowing that your life is in the balance."

She still bit slightly at her lower lip but smiled at his words. Her comfort around him slowly grew as she was less inclined to recoil from his hand on her shoulder. She watched his eyes seeing something in them that she was unsure about. She did not recall ever seeing such an opposite look to Damon's dark cruel desires. A tear in her eyes hid it's presence from her as she watched Portos face as Katerina whispered.

Be careful...

He ran his fingers slowly over her shoulder and down her arm, a slight smile on his lips.

"I will try my best to be as careful as you want me to be."

He leaned closer, realizing that she smelled quite enticing, "But being careful is not really part of my nature chèri."

She nodded.

I truly hope you will be. I... I do not wish to be the cause of Athos and Aramis losing a brother

She tried to smile at him. She felt comfort around him which confused her even more.

As his hand reached her hand, he curled his fingers around it and raised her hand to gently kiss her knuckles.

"You fear too much. You should get out more and actually live life a little. Being alive is not all there is."

Enjoying much of anything is difficult to say the least around Lord Damons.

She watched him kiss her knuckles and smiled a little.

I have...witnessed much of what he is capable of before adding in the one who cannot die or my magics.

He gave her a smile, "You can still enjoy the little things in life."

He moved closer and reached up to touch her silky hair, "It is a small gesture, touching your hair, being able to smell your hair and yet it brings enjoyment to me."

He stepped away, "And nobody is unstoppable, not even this demon."

She had never thought about freedom from the life she was trapped in. Perhaps because of how long she had been trapped with Lord Damons.

Like coming here. Or that strange almost chocolatey bread your friend brought to us. No cake but very good.

She smiled to him.

You do seem to prefer being quite close till my fears take over.

"Ah yes, you have the basics down, now you just need to act on all of them. Finding pleasure in the little things. That should lead you down paths unknown so far."

He pondered her remark, "Yes I like to get close to you."

He smiled and shrugged, "You are a beautiful woman after all and even for a man undying, I am just a man after all."

She laughed a little at his words with a smile. She did enjoy being around him.

And you being close is not as fearful as Damons being close.

So what is the plan now? I cannot use magics on Damons nor the one who cannot die so I fear I may be of little help.

"Damons I don't know yet, there will be a plan for him. But your undead guardian?"

Porthos drew his sword from where it rested under his jacket and gave it a few expert twirls before sheathing it again.

"You don't need magic, just a sharp sword or a big gun and a knife or maybe all of them."

He took both her hands, "Together we can do this."

Looking into his eyes she smiled. She was calm and the fact that she felt safe for once around a man was clear in her own eyes.

Together...

Her voice a whisper but happy.

He nodded and smiled along with her, he could see in her eyes that she felt safe around him and that was a good thing, especially in a potential ally in a fight to come.

He only then became aware that neither one of them had withdrawn their hands and since he liked the feeling of her hands in his...he just held them

So... How do we do this?

She glanced at their hands but made no movement to take back her hands. Her eyes slowly lifted up to his confused at how calm she could be around anyone.

He was lost for a moment, his mind not focused on Demos or even the Immortal bodyguard, but more upon her lips, her hair, the soft skin of her hands...

"We go about it like we do every other thing. Take it step by step. Once the bodyguard is dealt with, you will be in lock down. Perhaps you could still come on these walks and it is then when my brothers and I will find you and we can plan further on how to stop the evil."

Thinking on this for a moment she nods with a smile.

With the immortal guard gone I am certain I can arrange for him to agree that I can still come here.

A faint little sparkle in her eyes.

There is something else on your mind yes? You seemed far away for a moment.

He smiled at her

"Yes I was thinking of something else. Something a man does not tell a lady until she knows him well enough."

He finally found that he could let go of her hands, not that he wanted to, but one does not cling to a woman, unless that woman welcomes the touch with more than just a smile.

"You still have time?"

Closing her eyes she let her mind wander out to the house but not too close.

They still discuss things though what I do not know.

When he withdrew his hand she simply nodded.

"Then let's go have a drink, I am sure a cup of good coffee will make you feel better about all of this."

Instead of his hand, he offered her his arm

She nodded and slipped her hand into his arm and smiled walking with him.

I would like that.

At the cafe, he pulled out her chair and took his seat next to her own, allowing himself to keep an eye on the street. They ordered their drinks and he leaned slightly forward,

"So tell me more about yourself. I mean you can't just be a breathtaking witch. There should be more to your life than just those two things."

I was born in Romania. My mother... and her mother taught me. I had always grown around those a.... Little more than mortal.

She smiled to him.

What else would you wish to know?

"As much as you wish to share."

He returned her smile and leaned back when the waiter brought their coffees. Only to lean forward again when the waiter left.

"I know that we hardly know each other, so perhaps I can tell you what you want to know as well."

She simply nodded and began telling him about traveling and then her story turned to Lord Damons. How he had ordered that for her people to be able to be safe on the lands he owned they would band over any who could offer him magics and when they tried to hide her he dragged her away and she had been with him ever since.

He sipped his coffee as he listened, his attentive stare not just due to her words, but also because of her beauty. It was sad really, to think of one so beautiful being forced into so many unwanted positions. He pursed his lips at the end of her story and reached out to gently pat a hand, "Hopefully with his fall, your people will be free. You could even return to them."
