"No, please don't!" the girl shrieked as the man cornered her in her parents room. It was located at the end of the hallway, the farthest she could possibly get from the madman before he caught up with her quickly. Her screams were quickly muffled by the man's firm hand over her mouth, forcing her onto the bed, fumbling for his knife...

Her blood dripped steadily yet very slowly off of her dress, off of the bedsheets, onto the cold wooden floor as he bolted down the stairs, and out the front door. The shocked and frightened look on her face remained, and her parents found her...cold..pale.*****less.

(OOC: Looking for a male to play the role of a young man who moves into the old, rather eerie, yet comforting home due to travel requirements in his career. However, he and everyone else are completely unaware of any story related to the house, and of the virgin soul that lurks within in, who will learn she is no longer alone..)

Prerequisites: Nothing but creativity and an open mind.. :rose:

PM for permission.

William R(Rex) Martin

The lear jet touched down the tires smoked as they made contact with the ruway. Just a small puff of smoke. Then both main gear touched and started to roll the nose gear touched down and the plane started to slow down. After a few seconds the reverse thrust came on and the plane came to a crawl. The pilot turned the plane off the run way and proceeded to the small terminal. A black BMW waited near the entry of the terminal.

The door of the lear opened and William Martin walked down the stairs. At the same time the front drivers side door opens. A short balding man climbs out and smiles and waves. He walks over to William Martin and shakes his hand.
"Welcome to Springdale Mr. Martin. " The man pumps his hand. William smiles at him "Please call me Rex."

"Sure Mr. ..ah Rex, I'm your agent Harry Bromatuki. Harry Bromatuki from Deadeye Realty!" Yes sir Rex you got one hell of a house! Historic but in out standing condition. I'm sure you will be very, very pleased!" Harry opened the front passenger door, but Rex stood next to the passenger rear door waiting.

"Sorry Rex, most folks sit up front!" Harry says.

"I'm not most people, I'm buying a $785,000 house for cash!" Rex replies.

Harry closes the front door and opens the back door. "Yes sir I undrestand that!" Harry climbs in to the drivers seat and pulls out of the terminal.
Rex clears his thoat. "Ah Harry aren't we forgeting some thing, like my luggage?"
"Mr.M....Rex my assistant Chuck Mathews is in the terminal at this time getting everything arranged. Your luggage will be at the house by the time you finish inspecting the house."

"Very well proceed." The drive to the house we a quiet one. Harry did not want to endanger the sale by upsetting his client. Finally they arrived.

123 Firebird Lane...last house on the left.

Rex climbed out of the car."My, my!" he says looking at the house.

Anna sat in a worn, dust-ridden armchair at the very top fourth-floor room, slowly flipping through pages of seemingly ancient manuscripts. It was a shame she had no knowledge of this room's existence until after her death...surely as a child she would have spent every waking hour eagerly reading anything she could. However, fate had decided otherwise, and now she had as long as she needed..

Her pale gray shape filled in a solid silver outline, which allowed her to maintain a physical, real-to-the-touch presence of sorts. At will, she could lose this outline and become transparent and merely fall through the floor or glide through walls to reach her destination, yet she always found herself walking through the home's dirty hallways and opening/closing doors like in life past. She sunlight streamed through the small window, which had managed to avoid vandalism over the years and remained intact due to its sheer height, unlike various aspects of the house.

She found herself so engrossed within a particular chapter that she took no notice in a pair of slamming noises from outside the front of the house.

123 Firebird Lane

Harry sprints ahead climbing the stairs to the front door. He had seen the lower level of the house only once. He had yet to look upstairs. Harry unlocks the front door. He had arranged for a locksmith to come and change the locks on all the lower floor leading to out side.

Rex looked at the house while still next to the car. He was trying to figure out if he had gotten a good deal or not. Granted the house was huge and the 3.5 acrers of grounds made the property a good deal. But still some thing was wrong. He was not sure, but something felt wrong, he could just not put his finger on it.

Rex slowly climbed the stairs to the house. Harry had opened the front door and left it ajar. He looked at the large double door entry. He smiled none standard doors. A sign of a custom built house. Even in the old days cookie cutter house were built. This is not a cookie cutter house. He walks into the entry way and looks at the grand stairway to the second floor. He looks down at the wood floor. There was a design on the floor made of different color woods.

Harry appears from a room off to the side. "Rex wait till you see the parlor. It is massive!" Harry states excitedly. Rex nods and follows him. As he enters he sees a large portrait of a woman hanging over a fire place. He smiles. "Well that will stay!" he states.

She shut the book softly with a puff of dust, and glided to the bookshelf to return it to its rightful place. A noise caught her attention, and she gazed downward at the floor.

Footsteps. Voices.

In the past, a stray couple or group of teenagers often found their way into the building and disturbed the home's natural existence before it was discovered years ago as a potential sale item and locked up. Anna took no interest in any of this of course, and only strayed down to the second and first floors on a rare occasion to gaze at memories long ago or to tidy up a shattered window or damaged items.

"Rex wait till you see the parlor. It is massive!"

Her curiosity got the best of her when this exclamation was returned. So, there were at least two of them. Anna gingerly opened the door and let herself down the rickety old ladder coming up in the center of a small room that led down to the third floor, and let her translucent hand glide across the aging railing as she gazed over the edge at the second floor..

Sarah Belle Welters Cannon

Rex stood looking at the portrait. "Harry do you know anything about the lady in the picture?"

Harry look a little uncomfortable. "Yes Rex, that is Sarah Belle Welters Cannon she was married to Captain Benjamin Budd Cannon commander of Comany B of the 12th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. Back in 1898. With the end of the Spanish American War Captain Cannon returned home and had this house built."

Rex smiles. "I see, he was an infantry officer, how interesting."

"Yes it was built in 1899. " Harry states. Rex turns and reenters the entry way and looks at the floor again. He was begining to understand . He turns and trots up the stairs until he reaches the top of the stairway and looks back down. There it is a large C with a large 20 pound model 1841 parrott cannon used during the civil war. Built into the design of the floor. Rex smiles. He walks slowly down the stairs. "Harry this is truely a rare find, you have a deal, where are the papers?"

The voices persisted, and she knew not why the continued, or why they chose not to leave. Anna distinguished between the two men as she gradually descended the left side staircase to the second floor, and out of the corner of her eye she caught a man slowly walking back down to the first floor. This sparked her curiosity, and she faded into nothingness as her foot touched the first stair, following the man slowly.

1899..

Anna simply lost track of time over the years, and by now had not the slightest idea how long she had been existing in the house. Forty years? Fifty? Seventy? She could only imagine, and yet the house never changed...but neither did she.

She studied the men intently from a small distance. One was short, aging, and rather on-edge as he swayed to and fro unconsciously while he spoke. The other, almost an entire opposite: taller, young, handsome, and calm.

"Who are you?" she whispered, as if almost to herself as the man continued conversing about the house.

"Who are you?"

"Who are you?"Hit Rex like a puff of wind. Rex turned and looked over his shoulder. no one there. That was interesting Rex thought. He returned to look downstairs at Harry. Harry was standing on top of the cannon. For some reason this made Rex angry like Harry was disrespecting the dead. Rex left the railing and walked down the stairway to draw Harry away from the design in the floor.

"Harry show me more of the house and then was can sign the papers in the kitchen."

It took about as long to show Rex the rest of the down stairs as it did to sign all the papers. As Rex signed the last page Harry smiled and handed the keys to Rex.

As Rex and Harry walked to the front door a white van with Deadeye Realty sign on the door came to a stop. And a young man about 19 stepped out and opened the back hatch. Chuck Mathews starts pulling Rex's lugage out and places each peice on the side walk looking up at Harry as if he were waiting for Harry to tell him to stop. Harry smiles and nods. Chuck returns the the knowing smile and finishes unloading.

Harry and Rex walk down the steps to the van. "Where would you like your bags Mr. Martin?"Chuck askes.
Rex turns and looks at his bags, "Put them at the bottem of the stair. I have not choosen a bedroom yet."

Harry looks at Rex "We will meet at the bank in the morning then!" Rex looks back at the house. "Yes Harry the Cannon house will do quite nicely, I will see you in the morning!" They shake hands and Harry climbs into his black BMW and drives down the street. Rex turns and watches as Chuck returns from delivering the last of his bags to the house.

"Here you go!" He hands Chuck a $20 bill. Chuck looks at the 20 and smiles"Thanks Mr. Martin!" Just as he was about to climb the steps he saw movement in one of the upstairs windows. He turned to Chuck as he is about to close the back hatch.
"Are there any workmen in the house?" Rex askes.

Chuck closes the hatch and smiles at Rex. "No sir, Mr. Martin the locksmith was here early this morning and long since left. Well enjoy the house!"

Chuck climbs in to the van and drives off.

Rex looks back at the house"Interesting!"he says out load and starts climbing the steps.
