The day I had been waiting for for ages was finally here. My time in the Army was up. I'd packed my bags, put on my dress uniform, seen the commanding officer, and was off the base.
In the time I had served, my 6' bulky frame, had transformed into a lean, well toned body, and my black hair was cropped short. It was the sort of body most men wish they had, my chest was firm, and my stomach was rock hard.
I boarded the bus for my home town, as the realization what i was returning to hit me. I was returning to a house where violence and drunkenness ruled, a house where my mother had been beaten, but the one saving thought I did was my sister. She would be 18 by now. I wondered how she had matured. I wondered if our bond will still be there. I had protected her as best I could while I was there.
The bus ride home seemed to take forever, as I battled the mixture of thoughts, and feelings I was experiencing.
I scanned the crowd waiting at the bus terminal for a familiar face. Much to my expectations, I didn’t see any familiar faces. I disembarked from the bus, and collected my bag. I was just stepping outside the bus depot, when I heard a vaguely familiar voice call out “Josh! Over here.”
I turned to face the direction of the voice, scanned the crowd, and saw my sister. I headed over to her, and threw my arms around her when I reached her. “Airionna, I’ve missed you so much. How have you been?”
