Not sure if anyone answered your photo hosting question, but sites like flickr and photobucket allow you to upload photos to private albums and share each photo with a link. The albums wouldn't be publicly searchable. On photobucket, I don't think you can even access someone's private album without a password, but you can freely share the link to individual photos.
Hope that info helps and you'll get to utilize one of those services to show us a little more, if you're up to it!
