Myths Among Us.

Anhur:

Anhur shrugs, "As well as one can hope with the way these mortals have gone." His face softens some, "Though I'm afraid Mekhit wasn't so lucky as we were." His shoulders actualy begin to droop as he continues, "How have the centuries been to you, Bast?"

Bastet:

"Barely more than survivable..." Bastet hissed. "We were never ment to become as we are... We should still be reighning... Mortals can be fickle... Tell me, Anhur... Do you still grant what little prayers that come to you?"

Athena

*Athena headed by the streets looking at the sensless fighting between two men. She shook her head but didn't interfere. She'd lost her hope in the human race. They'd lost faith in her long ago, why should she care. She turned bitterly away from the alleyway towards the park. "Oh zeus, how you must hate to see this." She thought of her father, she missed him, he'd been the world to her in earlier times. She thought about his strong and loving grasp when she was discouraged. How she could use his love right now. She sighed, He'd not only been a father ot her, but a lover when she was scared, a lover when she needed him, and how she needed him now.

Anhur:

"When one of them takes the time to pray to me..." He sighs and looks back into the building he's working at before returning his gaze to Bastet. "No, Bastet, we were not meant to become as we are now, mere shadows of what we were once. It is demeaning to think of how far I've fallen in the ages since we were worshipped."

Bastet:

"Well, I saw to a woman only minutes ago... Even though we have fallen so far... We still exist..." Bastet smiled, focusing upon the woman she had helped. She couldn't giver herself to bitterness... For to do so would mean her abandonment of this world... And that was very near suicide to a god.

Aphrodite

Stepping out into the street, Aphrodite sort to avoid the groping hands of the drunken men in the bar. Not even dance could appease her restless heart tonight. Lifting her face to the breeze, she felt sometihng she had not felt in a long time, one of her kind was close. She had been to long without the companionship of her own kind, followning the feeling in her heart, she made her way across the street and into the park beyond.

*Athena perked up hearing the sound of another she got into a defensive stanse looking around carefully... In earlier times she would have sensed them a mile away but her abilites were becoming dull with lack of use*

Gaia:

looking over to the men striping down the forest. "they have no care for me why should i care for them." Ducking into a dark allyway she pulls off her guies revealing her true form. That of a beautiful women in her early 20's she wears a long green dress tight against her slender form in her long umber locks are viens stringed holding up her hair. Walking out into the sun and in eye sight of the men they all turn to look at her. Gaia points below their feet and a crack in the earth opens up shakeing the ground beneth their feet all of the workers soon fell to the ground and were swallowed and crushed by tons of dirt. "one less pain for me to worrie about" and she walked back to the ally to hide.

Aphrodite

Aphrodite was cautios in aproaching the other imortal. although they had all been reduced to little more than shadows of what they once were, not all shadows were welcoming. She watched for a moment, trying to place the figure before her. the light of a passing vehicle gave her just enough of a glimps. Athena.

By the grace of Olympas, it was her sister, after so long. She called out to her, not really knowing what to expect.

"Athena, it's me little sister."

Was cautious and sensed the presence of an immortal, this was a fammiliar presense. Could it be one of the olympians... She looked around anxiously and then heard the voice of her most beautiful sister. "Aphrodite!" A smile swept her face. She hadn't seen an olympian in so long. Her form had faded somewhat but not her beauty. "My sister, By Zeus, it's wonderful to see you! It's been too long since we've spoke, too long indeed since our glory days in Greece."

Anhur:

Anhur nodded, "True though there are times when I feel that it almost would be better if we didn't." He shook his head and sighed, "I should get back to work...." Turning back he looked towards the doors of his building, he paused almost as if waiting for a reason not to go back in.

Aphrodite

Holding her sister in a warm embrace, Ahhrodite marveled at how well Athena look.

"Time has been kind to you."

Athena chuckels,

"And to you."

Aphrodite takes her by the arm just as she did when they were centuries younger.

"Come, we will find a place to sit and catch up on old times, considering how long it has beem it sould take quite a while." They laughed as sisters do and strolled casualy, neither in any real hurry to be anywhere in particular.
"I have been thinking of a way to restore some of our powers, it's just a thought mind you, but it might work, are you intrested?"

Ares

Getting tired from the long drive, I look for a motel in the town I am currently going through. I check in to a small family owned motel and park my harley in front of my room.

Grabbing my bag, I head in and shower then change and head out to see what the town has to offer. The town was far to small, and out of the way, to have a club that interests me so I ride my bike around the town for what seems like hours. As the sun starts to set, I feel the unmistakable presence of others like me around.

Stopping at the city park, I get off my hogg, and brush my long dark hair back and pull my black leather jacket out of the bike's storage compartment. My mind wanders back to the times of my day as I walk around.

Athena giggled in happiness at being with one of her own, an olympian and her sister. She held her elbow warmly as they strolled along. She smiled as her sister complimented her, she smiled at the always beautiful Aprhodite. "As do you." She continued strolling along asking her. "Have you seen any of the other Olympians?" She bit her lip as she thought of her long time crush, and brother. "Ares? Daddy, or anyone?" Immediately grinned at the thought of her powers returning, she'd spent so many years feeling useless and weak. "I would of course be interested..."

Bastet:

"So, you play the mortal's game?" Bastet asked as she looked toward the door that he was fixing eyes on. "Tell me... How long has it been since you have seen one of your peers? It has been far to long for me... And I take finding you, brother, to be a shifting in the balances... Don't you feel it? Its almost as though being in eachothers presence makes us stronger... More whole..." Though Bastet's eyes burned with pride, she was all but begging Anhur not to leave.

Thor

Thor walked down the streets of the city and looked around, marvelling at what these people had down even though they had forgotten about all the old gods, in fact they had forgotten about nearly everything. He then heard his name being called out and wondered if it was in vain although he didn't care, his name was being called out just the same.

As he continued to walk he wished that he had the powers that he had had as a god, that was glorious but if he even tried to strike someone down right now it would have killed him. He looked up at the sky and wished that Asgard was still up there and that he was living there but he knew that the only thing that was up there was Heaven with it's one god.

Thor let out a sigh as he came upon a coffee shop and walked into it, grabbing a large cup of coffee and a donut to go.

Aphrodite

As Aphrodite and Athena shared in the delights of being reunited, they neared the edge of the park, not paying a great deal of attention to what was happening around them. At once the both felt the presence of another. Friend or foe, they had not a clue, but together they were stronger, and together they would fight should the need arise.

Sticking close, they seek out the one they can feel tugging at their senses. Aphrodite is struck by unbelievable awe. He is kindred, one of their own true blood. He is Aries.

Standing where he could see her clearly, she summoned him.

“Brother. Aries.”

Her heart raced as Athena came to stand beside her, reunited.

Athena

Athena took a deep breath as she too felt the presense of Ares. She squeezed her sisters hand as she joined in summoning him. She felt the connection to him immediatley and her body reacted, her heart began to race, it had been too long indeed, God of War, she wondered how he'd held out through the ages.

Ares

Stepping out of the shadows I see what, or rather who, had brought me here. "Athena, Aphrodite what in Hades brought the two of you here?" I ask as I straighten my hair.

Deep down, even though I would never admit it, I feel sorry for most of the other Gods and Goddesses. They lost more power than I did, but my lack of worshipers has quickly died off, soon I would be as weak or weaker than them.

Athena

Athena smiled brightly as she looked him over, still handsome as she remembered. "I have been staying around here, since as it seems my followers are very much gone, and I'm steadily being forgotten." Looked down sadly for a moment before looking up again. "These humans no longer appreciate us, the glory of everything, including war." Shrugs, "So basically I wander hoping someday we'll return to out glorious power." Smiled as she looked him over again, "How have you held up so well brother?"

Ares

"Well sis, the last century alone helped me out considerably, with two world wars and numerous other wars." I reply with my classic sinister grin.

"But things are finally changing for the worst, with governments downsizing their militarys my loyal followers are loosing faith in me. It seems that there is a hidden force weeding my followers out of the armed forces a large percentage of the people released are my people." I tell her my grin fading away.

"So how about you? You aren't looking to shabby for a almost forgotten Goddess, what is your secret?" I ask back.

Lace

"Don't you get it" she shouts at Geoff , "it's not up to me. I can't just wave a magic wand and poof, she'll be here. It doesn't work that way." Sadly, Lace walks out of the room and into the hallway. She leans her back against the wall and sinks to the floor, drawing her legs up to her chest. "I've tried and tried. I don't know if she's even listening. Maybe you're right. Maybe she's not even around anymore

"You can't give up, Lace. You've been believing and praying for so long. What do I know anyway?"

"As if Geoff. You're now telling me that it's worth my prayers and belief. That I should continue and hope for the best?"

Geoff, now sitting beside Lace, puts his arm around her shoulders. "Yes, you should. You never know, maybe one of these days she'll come walzing in through the window and ask for a saucer of milk."

*Smiling* "You're full of shit, you know that?"

"Yeah, I know. Now come on, don't you have a ritual or something to do?"

Getting up, Lace hugs Geoff and thanks him for not letting her give up. She walks back into the room and lights two candles sitting on a mantle. Lace kneels down and sings a little song she was taught by her mother when she was a child. Afterword, she says the prayer she's been saying since she first learned she was going to have a child ofher own.

"My mother, my watcher. I call you now to offer my thanks for your care and love. As you were there for the birth of my mother, and my mother's mother, I so ask that you be here for the birth my child. Will you give me the honor of allowing me to believe in your spirit? Will you give me the honor of saying your name? Bastet, I pray to you now, as I prayed in the beginning. May my words travel to you on the back of a wind sprite, carying them to your heart. I thank you."

Relaxing, Lace and Geoff sit side by side, watching the fire light from the candles.

"If she does come" says Geoff "I hope she's potty trained."

Athena

"The centuries have indeed taking their toll, but like you the wars have made me prosper a little, but as most of the followers are yours mine have long since faded from the war scene. Hero's you know, are few and far between. I miss our glory days, you and I side by side on the battlefield." Sighed at the thought, they'd been quite a pair the god and goddess of war, no one could stand in their path. The might, power and glory that used to be theirs. Now people viewed them as myths, but they were alive... barely.

Bastet:

Anhur... He simply walked back to his mortal job, his mortal existance. Bastet had cried for a time as she walked on, she needed to get out of this place... She longed to have things back the way they were, and when she had seen her brother of sorts she had had a spark of hope that it might be possible... With his help, but he didn't understand that. All he knew, or let himself know was how he had become so close to mortal that godhood seemed a distant, forgotten dream. Bastet was not going to let that happen to her, she knew what she was, and what she had been. She desired to be so again. The prayer washed over her. Her eyes dried at its suddeness. It was a strong cry to her, for her help, but it was more than that. It was someone who knew much of the old family. The strengh of her prayer drew Bastet just as surely as Anhur's presence had drawn her. She sent her awarness back along the invisible lines of the woman's prayer, reaching out to bath her with her prayer magnified. More than just Bastet's awarness was flooding along the slim cord of prayer though. And when it ended Bastet was standing only a block away from the one who had called to her. "If it had only lasted a little longer..." Bastet thought.

OOC- I wasn't abandoning this thread I just got caught by RL for a bit. I've barely had enough time to check this thread or my other things on-line and have just tonight gotten a chance to get into the mindset I had for Anhur to find he's been written out. I will drop the thread if that's what you'd prefer but I was enjoying the character and was hoping to continue to write him.
