Thornton Wilder, best known for "Topper," which became a TV series.

ETA: My error. It was Thorne Smith, but I had the first name almost right.

Something like that. I'm rather annoyed because it's one of the few I actually read.

Sapper, HP. A pseudonym of Herman MacNeil. I think the Bulldog Drummond series was the start of the English Film Noir genre...

(Oh, and you set the next one since you did get it right somewhere in there).

Or yet another?

Max Carrados
The Wallet of Kai Lung

Og

Ernest Bramah.
Finally a title they didn't translate into German :)

My turn, and a difficult one for everyone but the biblical King With The Short Name I'd bet. Google all you want!

Flawed Red Silk
Brigit
Brobdingnag

A hint: All of those are series from 2003 or 2004 and real hot :)

Those are too easy for me.

How about:

Headlong Hall
Nightmare Abbey

Og

Thomas....something...Peacock?

*******

Maia
The Plague Dogs
The Girl in a Swing

(The "something" is "LOVE".) His essay "The Four Ages of Poetry" is still worth reading.

Richard Adams. The first edition of "The Girl in a Swing" is rare because it had to be withdrawn. One of the characters names was a real person Richard Adams had met. The revised edition is much cheaper.

The Young Fur Traders
Martin Rattler
The Dog Crusoe

Ahhhhhhh. That's a perfect example of one of those delightful little subtleties that makes book collecting so fascinating.

I once owned copies of The Girl In A Swing, Maia, The Plague Dogs and Shardik but I believe they were casualties of a long overdue book thinning that took place a couple of years ago. Adams sold a lot of books on the shirtails of Watership Down ( my copy has been carefully maintained and rests on the shelf over my right shoulder as I write ).

Can I put one up?.

"Who's in charge here" ?
"Officer Factory"
"Camp 7 last stop"
"Hero in the Tower"
"A time for Payment"

Oh Invisible one: say not a word, please

Should be easy (he was quite a lot in press for last few days):

A Scatterning,
Mr Mouth
For and After.

yes!
Sorry for delay :)

Your turn ;)

Fifth Business
The Manticore
World of Wonders

The thread is somewhat dependent on participant's willingness to list titles that ought to be reasonably recognizable. If one's object is simply to stump readers, it wouldn't take a lot of effort. I have little doubt of anyone's ability to do just that should they choose to do so.
