There is an "overwhelming" physical difference between men and women. That is a fact and there is no comparison between the two on the streets or on the battlefield. Read this very carefully:Police carry guns and nightsticks in order to increase their odds of bringing down a criminal if they have to, but it's hardly the majority of police work. There are plenty of positions that never involve apprehending criminals so no reason why women shouldn't have an equal role across the force. Most female officers are plenty tough enough to do the physical parts of the job along with the men.

Note the source. This study shows the difference between an all-male Marine unit in the field against an integrated (male/female) Marine unit in the field. Note the findings and consider how bad they would have been if it were just a test between an all-male Marine unit against and all-female unit. These same findings would be found in a study between the sexes in a police study. The bottom line, a female in an all-male unit weakens that unit in its combat effectiveness. The question of "why can't women serve in combat positions?" "should be, why should we put them in combat positions when we know it weakens the force and to that extent damages the effort?
