I am new to all of this and need someone to teach me. Im not sure if I am a sub or a dom..please forgive me if I get the lingo wrong. I have never been into this kind of sexual experience but I recently seperated from my wife who showed interest in this, and in my last effort to mend our relationship I am willing to give this a try.

I really gotta urge you to not try to become someone you aren't, to maintain a relationship. I don't think that ever works and is even less likely to be successful in BDSM. BDSM requires a level of honest communication that I don't think vanilla relationships have...so if you are just going through the motions for someone else, it will be fairly obvious.

Having said that, I agree about Fetlife. Great way to find out what is happening in your area. Go to a few munches. If you are in or near a city there almost definitely is a public dungeon where you can go and see how people play.

Thank you for your honest opinion, I have to disagree though sometimes you have to put your feeling aside and put your self in a situation that you may not feel comfortable with for someone else. To me this is a win/win situation, it might help my relationship and I may like what I learn. we all had to start somewhere right.
