Leanna Tompkins had came to this town as a new start, it was weird and all new to her especially after a life changing attack that happened not so long ago. She was now a werewolf, it was to believe it herself, she had the scars to prove it, and the last scars she'll ever get. Barely unable to accept the being she was now, she grew to be content with the other part of herself over the few months she dealt with it.

Luckily while at the store in the new town she came to, she met a friendly older gentleman willing to let her help upon his ranch after realizing she had worked with animals previously. She was to start the next day, he had given her specific directions and certains times to head to the ranch in order to help with what needed to be done. With that Leanna felt relieve to realize her new life in a new state and town might actually not be so bad after all.

----

Leanna arrived early in the morning as instructed by the manager, she wore a tank top under her unbuttoned blue flannel with her sleeves rolled, jeans and work boots. Her onyx black hair loosely braided with pieces sticking out from her layered hair, light creamy skin and pale blue eyes.

She looked around waiting to spot the ranch manager, as she headed towards the stables.

Carter Ford arrived early for work that morning, as he did most days. Most days. He had been working at the Jackson ranch for several years and was now the Ranch Manager with responsibilities for day to day operations, including overseeing the care and management of the horses, cattle and other livestock that were kept on the vast ranch. The Jackson Family was fairly hands off, leaving the operations to Carter and the administrative duties to Old Dan "Huck" Huckerson.

Carter had always had a way with animals, having grown up on a farm in a neighboring state. His mother had passed away when he was a teenager, leaving only him and his aging father to care for the farm. He'd been living a happy carefree life, working the farm, intending to raise horses, find a wife someday and then raise a family of his on that farm. That had all changed one evening, shortly after his 21st birthday, when a speeding car had slammed into the side of his tractor as he was pulling out onto a feeder road at the edge of the farm. Miraculously, Carter was only shaken up, although the car was badly damaged. He'd raced over to help the driver, but the man had leapt out of the passenger side and taken off running into a nearby wooded area. Carter called after the strange man, but the man didn't respond and quickly disappeared into the darkness. It was dusk and he'd never be able to find the man anyway.

The attack had come as Carter was hiking up the road back to his family's farm house. He'd heard a terrible howl and a sudden galloping sound from behind. He turned and caught only a glimpse of a monstrous humanoid shaped beast, covered in thick brown fur, as it charged and then leapt upon him. He'd been mauled badly and sustained nine deep bites across his chest, arms, legs and shoulders. The doctors would later say divine intervention had saved him. If only they knew...

Carter's screams had caught the attention of his father who had come running. James Ford was armed only with a flashlight and one swipe to the throat from the beast's claws had dispatched him. Carter would have also died on the side of that dirt road if not for a sheriff's patrol car that came through and discovered the scene only minutes after the attack.

When he recovered, Carter learned the awful truth about the monster that had attacked him and cursed him. Now, each month on the three nights of the full moon (or when angered or even in times of extreme duress) he would transform into a werewolf with a hunger for flesh and blood.

He had contemplated suicide often in those early days. He sold the farm and donated the proceeds to the local hospital. He became a drifter, moving from town to town, often drinking himself into a stupor and getting into bar fights. Fighting had never been in his nature, but now the beast had begun to gain a grip on his soul and was remaking him in its own monstrous image.

After a year of wandering, Carter found his way to the Jackson ranch. Penniless, he'd accepted a job as a ranch hand while combating depression. Resisting the urges and hunger of the wolf was a losing battle and Carter kept mostly to himself. One evening he'd gotten into an argument with another ranch hand and, in a fit of anger, Carter gave in to the beast that night. When the full moon rose, he transformed and willed his animal side to find and kill the man. When the sun rose, Carter found himself alone in a pasture with the remains of the man. He hid the body and his crime remained undiscovered.

The murder had been liberating! Carter began to look at the world differently, much as the wolf did. There was Prey and there was Competition. Carter the Man shook off his depression and became a model employee. He was faster and stronger than the other ranch hands and his keen senses enabled him to understand and sense everything that was happening on the ranch with the animals.

Now at the age of 30, Carter was the Ranch Manager, reporting to Old Huck, the General Manager. Old Huck was the only person on the ranch that Carter felt any real loyalty towards. He viewed the other hands like the cattle now – disposable, replaceable.

A new ranch hand was starting that morning. Old Huck has met and hired her the day before. Female ranch hands, while not unheard of, were a rarity. There were a few on the ranch, but the men outnumbered them and they tended not to last long. The ranch was definitely an “old boys” club, complete with locker room talk and horseplay. To last, a woman had to be tough, hard working and willing to endure a certain amount of behavior that bordered on sexual harassment from the men.

Carter smiled to himself. We’ll see how long this one lasts, he thought.

Carter was dressed in his customary worn jeans, boots and flannel shirt with the sleeves rolled up. At 6'2" with dark brown hair, chiseled features, perpetual five o’clock shadow stubble and a powerful muscular build, Carter carried himself with a confident, almost arrogant swagger. His pale blue eyes seemed to look through people and the ranch hands rarely disobeyed his orders.

“Miss Tompkins, I presume?” he called out to her as he approached her.

Instinctively, he inhaled, taking in her scent as his wolfish side always did. His eyes narrowed. Something was… different about her. He introduced himself and motioned for her to get on a small tractor with him. “Come with me, I’ll show you around.”

As they got on, he tried to refocus. His mind and his senses were going crazy. Something was VERY off about her. And it was driving his animalistic nature wild with a mixture of hostility, confusion, hunger and even arousal.

“So, what brings you to these parts, Miss? Huck said you said something about being new in town. Where are you from?” His eyes narrowed with anticipation of her answer.

Leanna took in her surroundings, it was a huge ranch, just the way she preferred it. She always loved working with animals, and this was something that would keep her mind busy and hands occupied. But one thing she liked of her sudden change, was the fact that she was strong. Stronger than a normal man or woman combined. Which made some people question her new found strength after an attack such as her. Another reason as to why she wanted a new start. She was an orphan, so family wasn't big for her.

Hearing her name being called she turned to the voice. A finely chiseled man, hopefully this wouldn't be her distraction. Shaking the thought, she was here to live in solitude, and make herself happy from previous events. The senses of her wolf were still fairly new, the scent of him somewhat puzzling so she shrugged it from the thought.

"Thats me." She implied. As he motioned her to get on the tractor with him for a show around, nodding her head in agreement. The smell of the ranch making her smile, working in this field always made her smile.

“So, what brings you to these parts, Miss? Huck said you said something about being new in town. Where are you from?” His eyes narrowed with anticipation of her answer.

Snapping her from her thoughts she looked to him and than straight ahead. "I was originally born in California, I have no family, grew up in foster homes. And figured a new change would be good for me." She smiled. "I just moved here 3 days ago. One of those, spur of the moment type deals you could say.."

She said as she nimbly raised a hand to tuck a piece of her hair behind her ear. His smell was spicy to her nose. Again, it must be the air, shrugging off the thought.

Carter nodded at her words, trying not to reveal how distracted he was. What was it about her? It was driving him crazy.

As they drove, Carter explained how things were done around the ranch. He was the boss and wouldn’t tolerate trouble. However, as a new hand, she might expect some hazing. As a woman, he cleared his throat, she could almost certainly expect some harassment and she would have to fend for herself. This was a tough business, he explained, and there wasn’t room for complaining. However, if the men gave her too much trouble, he’d certainly hear about it and kick them in their unproductive asses. This was a business, after all. The Jacksons held him accountable and he held everybody else accountable.

The ranch was enormous, the second largest in the entire state. They raised all manner of livestock here. Today, however, they would be clearing brush from one of the pastures. About a dozen ranch hands, all men, were out there working the field already.

“Miss Tompkins, I was a gentleman once.” Carter winced slightly at the thought. “But around here we use first names and for the sake of your fitting in, I think it’s best that I refer to you as Leanna now, alright?”

Carter stopped the tractor and killed the engine. As he and Leanna dismounted, his eyes wandered over her shapely body. He inhaled and his mind lingered on her. He had been with women since his transformation, but this one seemed – felt – WAS different. His cock stirred within his tight jeans. The Wolf was every bit as interested in her as the Man, which was unusual. In the past, he’d fucked women and the Beast had rarely stirred. Once, when it was close to the full moon and the Beast’s thirst for blood had been muted for an unusually long time it had brought about the change while Carter was fucking her. The Beast quickly finished and then finished off the screaming terrified young woman by tearing out her throat. Carter didn’t care, the Beast was second nature to him now and he readily gave into its impulses in so long that they didn’t jeopardize his position or compromise his secret. But this desire felt different. The Wolf had no interest in harming her. Quite the opposite. It wanted her for its own carnal pleasures…

Carter snapped back to reality. Focus, Carter, focus!

As they approached the men, Carter motioned for them to gather around. They assembled around Carter, amid a few catcalls and less-than-hushed remarks about “hot pants”.

“Alright boys, enough. This is Leanna. She’s a new hand around here. I expect you all to treat her kindly and with respect. At the same time, she’ll be done the same work as all of you, so don’t try and cozy up to her by offering to rub her feet or other malarkey.

“Raul, this is your crew, so you’re responsible for things. Jake and Earl, I don’t want a repeat of that shit you two pulled last fall. You know exactly what I mean and don’t think for a second that I won’t throw your asses half way to the Pacific if I even THINK you’re up to something.

“Now get back to work.”

Carter nodded at Raul and motioned to Leanna. “Let’s talk after work. Your shift ends at 5pm. I’ll be in my office in the main barn. Just ride the tow bed back with the rest of the crew then.”

Deep within Carter Ford, the Wolf growled with anticipation.

Carter had only been gone for two minutes when the first comment came. “Hey Leanna, are you from Tennessee? ‘Cause you’re a ten I see!”

The group let out a collective groan at Earl’s horrible come-on.

“Going to be a loooong day,” Raul muttered to himself. “Dumping a woman on my crew. Thanks Carter. As if these assholes aren’t already a pain.”

Leanna took in all the sites, main areas and the several parts that she took a mental note upon. Her wolf felt agitated,or so she thought she was. All she had been doing was pacing back and forth, uneasy. Thinking it was due to the sudden relocation to a new area, and new people. Sighing she broke back into reality. Hearing how the business would be tough, she understood, and knew would make it, she wanted to show she was dedicated and could work harder and better. Hopefully the work will calm her wolf a little better.

Telling her he'd prefer calling her by her first name instead. "No it's fine, I actually prefer it. " saying with a small smile.

As they arrived to their destination, Carter had introduced her to everyone. Laying down his rules he always had put down it seemed. Feeling all these prying eyes, examining her body. She didnt care, gladly she smiled at everyone, and knew how to take care of herself. She had to thank her wolf for that one.

“Hey Leanna, are you from Tennessee? ‘Cause you’re a ten I see!”

She laughed at the lame pick up line, "Too bad your one person I regret seeing." Smirking at him as she already made her to work.

Work was easy for her, everything she was asking to do she did with ease. Beads of sweat formed on her neck, forehead and chest. Her hands and arms slightly dirty. The work had relieved some tension. But found herself always thinking of Carter, the way his eyes seemed so mean, hid chiseled features... Those shoulders. A few times she had to shake her mind from him. But thankfully the work given kept him off her mind. Until work was over and she had to head back to his office.

It was a little after 5 since they had to put some things away, Leanna growing some friendships with her harsh sarcasm making them realize she was one to not be messed with. She rode the truck back as he had insisted, heading to the main barn where he had said he would be. Coming to the door where his office might be she looked around before knocking on the door.

"Hello? Mr. Ford? You said you wanted to speak with me after work?"

Carter leaned back in the chair behind his desk and sighed. It had been a long day and he’d spent an ample amount of time dealing with minor annoyances. Broken equipment, an injured horse, some missing (and presumably stolen) tools, tardy ranch hands and other issue. Huck’s plate had been full as well, leaving Carter to deal with more than his usual share of headaches.

He was just finishing some paperwork when his nose told him Leanna had entered the barn. He smiled to himself. Her scent was sweet, bordering on intoxicating to him.

"Hello? Mr. Ford? You said you wanted to speak with me after work?"

“Come in, Leanna. How was your first day?”

Carter listened half heartedly. He was listening to her heart beat, taking in the scent of her sweat, his mouth watering with a desire to clamp down on her neck. Yet he felt confused. The Man lusted for her and surprisingly, like this morning, so did the Wolf.

“Since you’re new in town, have you figured out where you’re going to be staying? If not, there is a loft over one of the unused barns on the eastern edge of the ranch that I pointed out on our tour. It’s a little dusty and could stand some cleaning. If you were willing to clean it out and do a little extra work after hours off payroll you would be welcome to stay there. It’s private and quiet. None of the other hands would bother you and you can lock the barn from the inside.”

Carter wasn’t sure what to make of Leanna, but keeping her close appealed to him. A large part of him was glad the Wolf meant her no harm. For the first time in what seemed like forever, Carter actually viewed a human being as something other than prospective prey or a competitor. What exactly she was at this point, he was still uncertain.

Before she had entered his office, she could tell he was near, but uncertain of how close. She was still getting used to her own abilities. But his scent was appealing to her, spicy, musky, and manly. She wanted to just smell him to crave the feeling of just studying his scent. She shook the thought from her head, 'That is your boss Lea' scolding herself.

Hearing his voice, calling her into his office, she tucked her work gloves into her back pocket and composed herself. Droplets of sweat slowly making there way down her from her head to her neck. Pieces of hair that had fallen from her braid from a layered hair cut, cause little wavey pieces of hair fall around.

"If not, there is a loft over one of the unused barns on the eastern edge of the ranch..."

He mentioned living on the ranch, which actually didnt seem half bad. She was a simple person to keep happy. And a small living area on the ranch, near the animals, just sounded to good to her. But know that Carter would be near, made her wolf calmer and excited. What the hell? She was tired of living in that hotel, even if it had been a few days. But to be able to have a small place of her own, yeah, it would be perfect for her.

"Actually... Mr. Ford that sounds perfect for me." Smiling at him, her thumbs in her front pockets of her light blue jeans. "I actually don't mind a little hard work. But I think that is alright with me."

She had brought the necessities of furniture, but the rest she had put into a storage near by. So if she ever needed anything, it was only a short drive away. But she , and her wolf, mainly her wolf was very happy with how things were turning out for her. Well technically them.

A short time later, Carter and Leanna were on the tractor again, heading toward the old barn. A large ring of keys hung on Carter's belt. "I'll unlock it and show you around the old place," he had said.

'Old place' was putting it mildly. The barn was worn, the paint had faded or peeled away long again and cobwebs and spiderwebs dangled casually from the beams. It had once been used as a stable, but the old horse stalls had long been cleared out and only a few rusty horse shoes, bridles and chains remained.

"There's a loft over top that would make a perfect living quarters. Like I said, this place could use some cleaning. If it's too messy, there's might be some other options around the ranch, but none are as private as this."

His words trailed off as he glanced around. He had come here a few times before a full moon. The barn had helped conceal his transformation and kept his clothing hidden away until morning. However, he now had several hiding places for his possessions around the ranch, so giving up one place wouldn't matter much.

Besides, knowing every inch of this place makes it that much easier to watch you...

Carter's curiousity was piqued now, but he knew it might take some time to determine what exactly it was about this woman that so caught his attention and raised his passions.

He would wait. He couldn't be too forward. Must not show too much interest just yet. She was new. Let her settle in, some time pass, maybe a week or so. Then come by some evening with a bottle of wine. Over alcohol, he could loosen her tongue, study her, learn more.

A place was a place to her, when she arrived she smiled. It had that look she always adored, and a nice private place to call her own and retreat to. That last place she had was her inheritance from an uncle, who passed and gave everything to her. Resulting in her selling his home, and selling a few things. Coming to conclusion she won't need or use most of these things.

He showed her around the barn, yes it needed some work done, yes it was old. But Leanna found it to be suitable and perfect to her tastes. It'd be something good to focus on when she didn't have to work.

"I really like it. It has some life still in it." She could still smell the hay, and the smell of the wood. And it was wonderful to her.

But mainly in her mind, she knew it was far away from people and other buildings on the ranch. Especially when the time came for her to change.

A week passed and Carter carefully watched Leanna from afar. She was strong – much stronger than her slender frame showed. She was able to keep up with the men, in many cases working through breaks and proving herself as a better hand than most of them. Her scent remained a mystery to him. He felt increasingly drawn to her. The desires and urges were only growing stronger with each day and night.

As the full moon drew near.

The sun had just set as Carter approached Leanna’s barn. He carried a bottle of wine, an opener and a pair of glasses. He stopped and sniffed the air. She was inside, her sweat calling to him like sweet honey. He glanced up at the rising moon. It would be full in a few days and the Beast would be loose.

“Leanna?” he called out, knocking on the door of the barn. “It’s Carter. I brought over a little something. Call it a… house warming gift.”

He smiled when he finally saw her. “Thirsty?”

His plan was to get a few glasses in before he’d begin to press her. Where had she come from? And her strength and endurance – he had to know more.

Standing in a mirror she has against the wall, she stood in her bra and panties, looking at the last scars she has gotten when she was attacked by that large werewolf. The light pink tear marks shown across her skin. 4 claw marks on her on the back of her right shoulder blade going to her mid waist, 4 marks under her left breast. Tracing them with her finger, sadness and some anger in her eyes.

She turned with a sudden jolt, seeing Carter standing there catching a glimpse of her nude form. Her breath caught in her through, "Mr. Ford!" She said in a shocked tone. She ran to an exlosed area she made as her bedroom. Her skin burned red, realizing he just saw her named form. This was going to make things even more awkward. She slipped on some comfortable loose jeans and slipped on a shirt and sweater, and headed back to the living area where Carter still stood.

"I apologize so much Mr. Ford.." saying shyly. "I just didnt expect you or anyone to come over. Please, have a seat." Saying as she sat in the couch she had brought from home with her.

When there was no response to his knocking, Carter opened the door to the barn and let himself in. He knew this barn well and made his way up to the loft that Leanna was now occupying. He called out to her again, but she still did not respond. He wasn't concerned. He knew she was here and the old loft was surprisingly sound proof.

He stepped into the main room of the loft and discovered Leanna standing before the mirror wearing only her bra and panties.

"Mr. Ford!" she cried out before he could utter a sound.

He smiled to himself as she ducked into her bedroom to slip on additional clothing. The brief glance at her body was worth any awkwardness that might ensue. She was firm and fit, but he'd caught sight of her hands tracing over what appeared to be old scars on her torso. They had appeared well healed, but sometimes the deepest scars were psychological. He tucked this bit of knowledge away and made a note to probe later.

"I apologize so much Mr. Ford. I just didn't expect you or anyone to come over. Please, have a seat."

Carter smiled as he took a seat and began opening the bottle of wine.

"Sorry to intrude unannounced, Leanna. I thought I would stop by and see how things are going. It looks as if you've managed to breathe a breath of fresh air into the old place."

Carter began to pour a glass of wine.

"I hope you enjoy red wine. This is a little something special and I brought it to say thank you for what you're doing. Really, you're doing me more of a favor by staying here and cleaning this place up."

Carter patted the cushion beside him.

"Why don't you join me? I promise I won't bite."

Being this close to Leanna was driving him wild. The Wolf was practically going wild with desire. He knew that lust or any strong emotions could sometimes trigger his transformation without relying on the full moon if he allowed it. He briefly considered giving in and letting the Beast have her right here and now, but quickly dismissed the idea. Leanna was far too interesting to waste on an inpulsive evening of primal desire. He wanted to bait the hook, lure her in and discover exactly why she was so interesting to both the Man and the Beast.

After some idle banter, two glasses of wine apiece and some light hearted joking, Carter shifted the subject to his true objective of the evening.

"We didn't get to talk much, Leanna. You never told me why you really moved here. We're a bit removed from California and this town isn't exactly a booming metropolitan area. People come here to get lost or hide themselves away from the world."

His tone deepened, becoming slightly more serious now.

"You're a hard worker and seem almost... desperate for acceptance here. If I didn't know any better, I might think you were running from something. Perhaps seeking to bring a bit of normalcy to a chaotic life."

He swirled his wine glass and inhaled, feigning a sniff at the remnants of the wine in his glass. In actuality, he was taking in her scent again, probing for a sudden light sweat that inevitably accompanied efforts at human deception. He'd become a master at detecting lies.

His eyes met hers and the burrowed deep, focusing now to determine what it was that made this seemingly unassuming and beautiful young woman so intriguing to his supernatural nature. He leaned toward her slightly, ever so gently raising the sexual tension in the room.

Her cheeks were flushed from theb situation before hand. But he didn't seem to mind much, he had brought wine as a home warming gift, though she never really was much for drinking, she couldnt refuse a gift that someone offered her. She watched him open the bottle of wine, she saw some kindness in his eyes, along with something else. The wolf inside her seemed anxious, growling and yipping. In her mind she told her to quiet down.

She sat near him, but a couch cushion away, she didnt want to cross any boundaries due to her working with him, and known to be his worker. But than thinking what it'd be like to feel him near her, his scent lazily breathing into her nose, into her lungs. It was something about it she couldnt quite catch.

Having her fair share of wine, enjoying the company and laughs between each other. But as her asked, he asked of why she moved here, her reasons of choosing a town over someplace booming and bountiful. Her eyes darkened over as she took a sip of the wine. Uneasily looking down.

"I don't really feel like talking about that." Laying the cup onto the coffee table she got up as she adjusted her shirt. "Its late Mr. Ford. And I have work tomorrow and I dont feel like being late."

She didnt want to seem rude, but as he asked about her reasons and past or if she might be hiding from something, she felt herself go cold. It was something she rather keep away about talking of it.

"I'm sorry, but Maybe you should head out now too." Saying as she didnt make eye contact with him.

Carter could almost feel her tense up as soon as the words left his lips. The playful sexual tension in the room went deathly cold.

"I don't really feel like talking about that. It's late Mr. Ford. And I have work tomorrow and I dont feel like being late."

Carter sighed and slowly rose from the couch. He stepped toward her and continued his questioning only to be interrupted.

"I'm sorry, but maybe you should head out now too."

Carter stopped, realizing he had pushed too quickly too soon. When she refused to make eye contact with him, he knew he had hit the nail on the head.

Now standing mere inches from her, his Wolfish nature was going mad with desire. His cock swelled within his jeans and his jaw ached slightly. He knew his teeth and nails had elongated ever so slightly.

The full moon was a mere week away and the Wolf would come in search of this one.

"I don't care about your past, Ms. Tompkins," he spoke in a low voice, choosing to address her formally. "Whatever you did outside of my ranch doesn't matter. All I care about is what happens here, within these lands. You're safe here and no man will bother you."

He intentionally did not mention things other than man.

"Good night," his voice practically purred as he leaned in a gave her a light peck on the cheek. Forward yes, but the Beast demanded physical contact with her and this seemed the least intrusive.

As he kissed here, his swollen cock rubbed against her thigh through his jeans. The Wolf snarled with desire inside his mind.

From the corner of her eye she saw him rise up from the couch, her glared darkened eyes looked to a corner of the room. Pieces of the incident that forever changed her life pass through her mind. The once warm and cozy loft, now felt ice cold. She just wanted to take an extremely hot shower and try to alleviate the flashbacks.

Her wolf was slightly angered at how Leanna was pushing him away, trying to assure her that he's safe, loving, and a mate. She shoved her wolf away, telling her there is no such thing.

He said goodnight, when he approached her she slightly tensed up. He leaned down and left a peck on her cheek. Shocked at the show of affection or friendliness, she raised her hand touching her cheek. Looking up at him, she felt confused, but her wolf howled at the first touch she felt in the form of affection.

"What... Was that for.." she managed to let out, realizing she felt a hot and hard feeling against her though. Without knowing she felt her eyes show flecks of gold while still looking up at him. She felt her wolf wanting to come through and take over.

Leanna turned her face away abruptly, hiding her eyes from his view. She didn't feel like showing what she was to anyone.

"I.. Have to.." she didnt know what to say, her wolf was going insane with lust and desire, clouding her mind. With that she strode to her bedroom closing the door.

Leanna was breathing heavy and hard, she hadnt felt her wolf react like this. She looked into the mirror connected to her dresser, her eyes mixed with her bright eyes, a golden ring on the outside, as another ring started to form on the exterior. God she hoped he left, as her nails dug into the wood as though it were butter.

Her abrupt flight to her bed room left the Wolf hungry for more of her. With a low growl, Carter felt himself being overwhelmed by his animalistic nature. He smiled, enjoying the sudden flood of the Beast's powerful emotions and desires as it began to influence his actions.

Rather than leaving, Carter moved to her door. He knew it didn't have a lock and he could easily follow her inside. Instead, he stood waiting a few seconds, listening. Her breathing grew heavier and then came the sound of something grinding into wood. A weapon perhaps?

He sniffed. Her scent smelled... slightly different. Muskier. She was sweating, her heart racing. It only aroused the Beast further. His cock swelled, straining against the cloth and denim that concealed it.

"Leanna," he half growled in a deep voice. "Why don't we... go for a walk? The night air is... always so refreshing." His voice held steady as he spoke. He turned and quickly flicked off the only light in the room.

All the better to conceal the changes that were undoubtedly becoming evident upon his face. Had he been able to look into a mirror, Carter would have seen his once steely blue eyes now blazed with a deep golden yellow, his incisors had visibly lengthened into small fangs, his ears acquired a slight point on the tips and his five o'clock shadow was now thicker and heavier. In addition, his fingernails had begun to extend into sharp nails.

He inhaled, supressing a deep, longing desire to howl.

Leanna felt sick to her stomach, her head pounded at the full blood rush throughout her body. Trying to convince the wolf roaming in her mind that she didnt want she wanted, that the choice she made was to protect them both. Her wolf stared puzzled at her, so he's bad? Not good for us? Yes, we dont need him.

The arguing between them both made her realize she wasnt paying attention to her surroundings. Carter had entered her bedroom, making her wolf growl in anger at the sudden intrusion of her home.

"Mr... Ford. Please.. Just go.." She felt nauseas, and the area around her felt as though it were spinning. It was the effect of her not letting her wolf loose and take control. "I.. I need to rest... Please."

Leanna didnt want to hurt him if something were to happen, he seemed different. But flashbacks of how she was betrayed, gained her trust, and than attacked her shifted into her mind. She didnt want to cause a problem and have to leave again. All she wanted was peace.

Her bedroom door swung open. The old wood had warped and it didn't close completely anymore. Carter was greeted by the sight of Leanna standing before the mirror.

"Mr... Ford. Please.. Just go. I.. I need to rest... Please."

She seemed distraut, in pain almost. The Wolf within him growled in frustration. It wanted her. Now!

He stepped forward boldly, seized her arm and pulled her toward his chest.

"Answers!" he snarled. "Now! What are you running from, Leanna? And. Why. Do. You. Smell. So. Goooooood?" The final word rolled of his thinning, slightly elongated tongue. The Beast was demanding to be let out now.

The way he had grabbed her frightened her, making her wolf take control as though she was being attacked. The night when she was changed flashed through her eyes, she didn't feel like being hurt again, her wolf wanted to protect her, and felt guilt for actually liking him as a potential mate.

She stared at him horrified at how he handled her, as her eyes swirled to a dark yellow. A deep growl escaped her throat, and with that, she shoved him away. The beast within her unable to control her power."Get... Away!!!" She screeched, noticed as he fell back, slightly disorientated. Her eyes went back to a normal color, realizing she just pushed and slammed her boss away from her.

Horrified she hurried out of the room and out of the barn. A slight jog she looked back every so often. She ran to the only place she could calm down. The Lake. She sat atop the ledge above the, hugging her legs to her chest. "He knows what I am..." She mumbled. No normal human could shove a man back like that with such force.

Her growl, her eyes, her shove - it all happened so quickly and unexpectedly that Carter found himself sprawled out on his back and the object... the woman... of his desire fleeing.

He inhaled deeply, the Beast within snarling in rage and arousal. It wanted to leap up, pounce after her and tear out her throat for this offense. But Carter the Man held it back. Her eyes had been... yellow.

Slowly he rose and followed. He stayed back, following from a distance, out of her sight. His suspicions were stirred now. There was more than meets the eye here.

He caught up to her at the lake. It was a small lake along another edge of the ranch. He again stayed back, watching from the treeline, starring at her sitting on a rock, trembling. The Man and the Beast sat, silent, concealed... watching.

Her breathing was heavy, staring off into the water, able to see the fish slowly floating and asleep. Some awake darting back and forth, her eyes calmed and were back to normal, but with only the smallest flecks of silver in her pupil. A drop of sweat fell to the ground below her as she sat and tried to relax. Knowing she now had to move away from here, a place she had come to like and adore now.

But without warning her wolfs hair went up, grownling lowly. She turned abruptly, seeing his form perfectly at night. Causing her to stand quite close to the edge. Had he followed her? Why? What did this man want, she was any other person trying to get by, except with a few twists.

"Please... What is it you want.. I didn't mean to hurt you if I did..." She swallowed hard. Keeping her eyes upon him. As a soft breeze blew by her, pieces of hair flying across her face, her scent flying hazily near him.

As she spoke to him, he caught her scent, wafting through the gentle breeze coming off the lake. He inhaled deeply, closing his eyes. When he exhaled and those eyes opened, they were a golden amber. The Wolf had grown aggitated enough and was now moving to seize control.

He leapt to his feet and moved quickly toward her. Thin dark hairs had begun to sprout across his normally hairless chest, yet remained concealed beneath his buttoned shirt. His fingernails extended and sharpened. The whole time as he strode to her, their eyes remained locked and his smoldered with deep desire.

The Man was still uncertain about her, but was suspicious she might be something more than a normal woman. The Beast however suspected that she was like itself, a lycanthrope, or werewolf. Neither side of his dual nature had ever encountered another of his kind since the night he was attacked and cursed, but something deep inside the Wolf just knew.

Now he was only a few feet away and moving aggressively. The Wolf was fighting, struggling to be free, but the change had not manifested itself outwardly outside of a few subtle ways. His bones had not begun to realign themselves and the thin dark fur on his covered chest could easily be mistaken for natural human body hair. Now, both Carter and the Wolf wanted her.

"Leanna," he half growled, reaching out and pulling her into a firm embrace. His lips met hers and he kissed her deeply, passionately.
