To bump a thread means to post to that thread partly in order to move it to the top of the current thread list. That way, instead of the thread being buried a few pages down (in the thread list), it's moved to the top, where it will get more attention. And generally, if a thread gets attention, the thread-starter will be more responsive. Therefore, by bumping the thread to keep the thread alive.
Now, a question for you - what would you like us to call you?
