New Years Eve

This year it's not too wild. Just hanging out at home, stirring the black-eyed peas in the crock pot, and will watch the ball drop at midnight. I'm not yearning for the parties though, I am glad to be chillin at home with the chillun'.

Hey..what are the NY customs in your area? In the Southern US, we eat black-eyed peas for good luck and greens for money on New Year's Day.

ewww..LOL..here in the midwest in the U.S. (Indiana) we eat cabbage on new years day, usually my sister makes 'pigs in the blanket' and while i realize it makes no sense, LOL, it's hamburger with onions and other spices, you make them into 'balls' and then wrap cabbage around them and cook 'em in the oven...YUM!

Edited to add: eating cabbage on New Years day is for good luck

My plans for NYE is to 1) avoid the drunken idiots with guns firing into the air, 2) have a pizza, and 3) to watch a couple of movies on DVD.

Whaa? I always though pigs in a blanket involved, like, sausages. Not that I've ever eaten such a thing. In Canada we call that food "holobtsi" which I guess is a Ukranian word...

Personally, I like to go out for Chinese food on New Year's Day. Shrug.

Cooked a meal for some dear friends (always an "ethnic" choice - this time was german). Currently sitting here surfing and getting ready for a shower - the fireworks have already started (we still have a couple hours till midnight here) but I expect that they will continue till about 1 am (I live right off the Puget Sound so we have several firework shows). Somewhere in between shows and dogs barking (ahh the joys of 3 adult dogs and 6 pups), I will somehow find myself in some scene or another...

I am very glad the year is closing - alot of hard times (ie have had alot of cancer runs in friends/family), demands on time, and I have catered and cooked for family/friends for the last several weekends. So yes I am totally looking forward to the "new year" so I can breath....and do whatever the fuck I want to do. (maybe this belong in the blurts/rants thread...hehe)

Happy New Years!

We always had both cabage and black eyed peas, and both for luck, and I really don't care for either.

This year, I'm going to make lamb and pasta. Just sounds good to me. :)

yes, usually pigs in the blanket refer to sausage wrapped in a pancake. i don't know where the kind of pigs in the blanket we eat on New Years day got it's name, but it makes no sense as it's BEEF which of course comes for a cow, not PORK which of course comes from a pig *shrugs*

I haven't done much for NYE here lately... Next year I fully expect to be doing something with My slave, but thats another story...

When I lived in Vegas, I hit the strip for NYE one year, now that was an expierence... My former roommate and her kids got trampled, we got lost walking back to the bus... got home about 5 am....

IF i were to do that again, NO kids... LOL

The fireworks off of the casinos were awesome.
