Not because we hate our neighbors. Not because we fear prayer. But because we understand history. We understand symbolism. And we understand that culture never collapses all at once. It erodes. Quietly at first. Then loudly.

A tweet making the rounds this week shows video of the Islamic call to prayer, the Adhan, echoing through New York City streets at dawn. Five in the morning. Amplified. Projected over neighborhoods that still carry the scars of September 11, 2001. That date is not ancient history. It is living memory.

Ministers are changing planning guidance in England for new houses after parishes were forced to comply with noise abatement orders following complaints by disgruntled neighbours.

The village church has been ringing it's bells for 900 years through the day and night. St Peter's Church, Sandwich.

The updated guidance shows the government is 'standing up for churches', ministers said, and it means vicars will not have to put up with 'unreasonable restrictions' put on them.
Becky Clark, the Church of England's director of Churches and Cathedrals, said: 'We welcome these planned changes, which will help ensure that the distinctive sound of church bells continues to ring out well into the future'.

BOTH must be stopped. BOTH are grave threats to individual freedom and personal autonomy.

Now, the question is, which group has more power, and thus, which is the far greater threat to individual liberty.
One controls New York City.
The other controls the White House, and by extension, the rest of the country.

Bottom line, we have greater, and far scarier, things to worry about here in the US than some Islamic mayor in New York City.

Many years ago I had a job where I had to work nights. There was nothing to do, just be there in case of something. So I found a quiet room and got my head down.

• The typical nighttime noise level in suburban neighborhoods is 48 decibels.
• The typical nighttime noise level in denser urban neighborhoods is 58 decibels.
