It had been a long month and her body had gone through many changes to better suit the life she carried. Her gills were more pronounced but like Ja's they settled seamlessly when she was on land and none would know they were there unless they saw her in the sea. She'd also developed a slight webbing between her fingers that made her laugh slightly, it certainly helped pull her through the water and so she delighted in it. Her skin had toughened slightly though she suspected that was as much from the amount of time she spent in the water as it was from her pregnancy. It was like the water simply called to her and she HAD to spend the greater part of the day beneath the waves.
For a short time she had worried because she felt no movement within her womb just the constant growing that enlarged her belly and made her feel cumbersome anytime she was on land. Ja had to explain more than once that Rapture children were born in eggs to keep her worry from getting the better of her. During the whole pregnancy though she never asked what their children might look like. She truly didn't care, so long as they were healthy she was happy.
Finally she went into labor and Ja helped her down to the beach, her small friends gathered around her and pulsed gently against her legs, their voices calm and soothing in her mind. She was frightened and she held tightly to Ja as contractions rippled across her belly. It seemed like forever but finally she managed to push out two perfectly shaped eggs that were a brilliant shade of sky blue. The creatures wiggled and pulsed and voiced their pleasure of the eggs and her courage and made her smile before she looked up to Ja at a complete loss as to what to do with the eggs now.
