No Lit for you (on PC?)

Try a different browser.

If you use chrome try Firefox. Edge try chrome. Etc. Here’s another one too, since separate from problems, it’s really best to have a “real life” browser and a completely isolated “sordid secret life” browser. https://duckduckgo.com/windows
(DuckDuckGo has an excellent reputation, even if their products aren’t the single most bug free products in the world)

Also, back when you tried ping, try this (but don’t post the results it may show your ip address. But let us know if you reached Literotica.

Tracert literotica.com

Chat's up and running so it looks like your computer isn't seeing that either. If those other sites aren't blocked it's unlikely to be an adult content blocker.

A few more things to try. Can you access literotica.net? Either on your browser or through ping. If you google the keyword literotica you'll get a few different sites including a reddit page. Can you access any of them? Also try going to literotica.com via google rather than directly.

This might be the problem if your phone is still using the mobile service DNS address, even when it's on Wi-Fi. That's worth checking.

1. Yes I can access literotica.net just fine, but clicking through into .com hits the same issues. I've checked this by ping and by opening the thing in my browser. I can try the reddit page if you think it's useful, but at this point it confirms (to me at least) that the issue is me connecting to literotica.com specifically (although I have no idea why that would be).

2. Everything I looked at says my phone is using the same DNS as my wifi is, according to what the phone is telling me.

Also, this website will tell you definitively whether your phone and home computer are using the same connection.

If they’re the same then yes. If no your phone is using your cellular provider and not your home isp.

What brand antivirus and what brand router?

I also missed that you had tried different browsers. The trace route, particularly in comparison with a site that works, might be interesting.

I usually use Chrome, Opera and Edge are having the same issues unfortunately. Duck Duck Go sounds fun and I'll try it later but I don't see it doing much here. I DID do the tracert, and (ignoring the first few lines which DO have my ip stuff) it looks like the connection breaks down leaving atlanticmetro?

I don't know what that means or why it's annoyed with me in particular (and not me-using-a-VPN), but here it is in case it helps.

!!!!

Okay very interesting!

My puter gives my home IP address, but my phone gives different numbers and says it's an iCloud Private Relay.

So that goes back to my IP then, regardless of what the wifi was telling me.

I would try changing your dns servers as set on your router to one of the widely used public ones like google or the one I use, quad9.

Google’s is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and quad 9 is 9.9.9.9 and 149.112.112.112. I like quad 9 because it blocks known malware sites but not sleazy internet underbelly sites (like lit).

If you’ve reset your router that’s dangerous because maybe you don’t have any security in it at all? But anyway, go into your routers setting console, be sure to use Wpa2 security at least, but also set your dns primary and secondary servers to the numbers above (make the dns settings not be automatically assigned). You may have to google how to for your router

Tell us your router brand? I say that because some have miscellaneous features to make it easy to block sites without going into the console.

I’d recommend going on a brief tangent or two and also checking for firmware updates for it too. Newest is almost always best.

It’s a Google Nest, although it’s feeding out of an Arris-branded NTD.

Sure enough the default was set to quad 8, but after some trial and error (and a phone call to a slightly more technical partner) we have set it to quad 9 with the numbers you suggested. Moment of truth…

No change :(

I haven't given up on the process yet, but I probably need to do some things around the place before I can try restarting in case that makes any change.

With the VPN back up (again, in case that's important) I get:

Try to connect the phone to WiFi for sure. When the ip addresses show the same, you’ll know. (I don’t know enough about iCloud relay. It could be a vpn of some form on the phone, where you really were on your WiFi. I don’t know for sure.) If you have an old phone or tablet somewhere in the back of a desk drawer or an old computer, try something else on your wifi? Even your video game or streaming device might have a way to browse the internet. Process of elimination.

(Also try a different browser on your phone? My ten second research on apple private relay said it only applies to safari? DuckDuckGo is available for the iPhone btw)

Otherwise, it has to be some form of parental control or safe browsing option, somewhere on the computer, the router, or your service at the isp. Or, more accurately, the possibilities are endless. Look up your ip address on a DSN blacklist checker such as https://dnschecker.org/ip-blacklist-checker.php.

I asked about the router brand since I recall some advertise their ability to block sites without going into config settings. Try saying “alexa and google, unblock Literotica” out loud. ;-)

I have good news and bad news and it looks like it's the same news, according to your dns checker link my provider is getting targeted by UCEPROTECT at the moment - the whole provider, not my IP specifically. Looks like it's a scammer trying to extort the provider (and anyone gullible enough to purchase a single-IP whitelist) and that it should go away in a week or two.

Which sucks, but at least I think I understand it now and I have a workaround.

Just got to enjoy my electronic travels into the New Year and see when it clears up!

Thanks for your help and support through all this, I'm going to... try to stop worrying about this and just do my writing and my things.

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

That's wonderful I am glad you will be able to come back normally soon. :) I hope you also have a happy holidays.

Oh wow. And thanks for the news!

Crossing my fingers for you and your ISP, good luck and happy holidays too!

Great that you found the problem and hopefully your ISP will do the rest. Happy holidays to you too!
