Non-Consent/Reluctance Rules

Then you'll have to compromise or decide not to have it posted here. Nobody here can take over your responsibilities for you.

What do you mean "responsibilities"? I have no responsibility to write an appropriate story. I am not beholden to Literotica. I'm an author. Literotica is a publisher. I will write a story, and they will decide to publish it or not. It's a simple system, with no connections other than the messages exchanged throughout the process.

I'm simply trying to determine whether the story, as I want to write it, is likely or unlikely to be published, before I begin work. I write for myself and share stories for critique and the hope that others like them, so there is no reason to compromise. The story is the story, and there's no point publishing a story that I didn't want to write.

I asked a question. I got some answers. I made a decision. I replied quoting those users to specifically address the points they made, both for them and for the others who are viewing this thread. Thanks a bundle for making that decision for me, but I think I was capable of doing that myself.

You seem to be ascribing far more import to this question and to authorship on this site as a whole than is warranted.

You have a responsibility for whatever you do. It got down here to trying your luck with what you wanted to write and you still wanted assurances it wouldn't be rejected. It doesn't work that way, and you don't lose personal responsibility for whatever you do. You were advised to read stories to see for yourself where the limits could be. You say you did that but you still want the folks on the forum to tell you whether your story will be accepted without telling us what's in your story. You were advised to just try your luck but you say you don't want to do that because it might be rejected and you have no intention of changing it and your whole world will collapse then. You say you're only getting ambiguous responses. Well, yes, that's all the users on the forum can give you--beyond twice being cited the same Web site guidelines we all get.

We can't take responsibility for this for you. It's your story. You're on your own with it.

Wow, so many assumptions. I asked for guidance. Got guidance. Replied to comments explaining my point of view. Shared my perspective that the guidance I got was ambiguous. Then I... did nothing. You assume to know my thought process and desires during the entire course of this thread. Well, you don't know what I've been thinking--have been completely wrong, in fact--and I'm not going to continue wasting my time with you. Reply if you like. It will find nothing but an empty room.

You'll have to excuse PILOT. Someone dropped him on his head when he was a boy, leaving him with a permanent case of ASSITIS.

As you can see by reading up the line, Carnal Flower isn't here to help you--Carnal Flower is just here to harass me.

And I'll stick with you having patiently been give several rounds of the advice on this there was to be given to you and you just continually circling back on it.

"This isn't a great solution because, if it's rejected, it will be rejected in the one form that I want to tell the story. I would rather ask a question at the beginning of the process, even if I get ambiguous answers, rather than put all of the effort into writing it, only to find out that it can't be published."

We submit our stories. Laurel reads them, maybe too quickly, but it's all up to her. She may reject our stories. She rejected my first efforts, and later ones. I rewrote and re-submitted, and all but one were finally accepted. (That one has a rapidly-expanding cock explode the woman it's inside, so it'll probably never make the cut.)

That first rejection was the best thing that's happened to me on LIT. Rejections are instructive. So are re-assignments -- I submitted one for LW but Laurel rightly posted it as NonCon. Revising rejections forces one to focus on conventions and effects. Gain insight into publishing here by seeing how Laurel handles your efforts.

We learn LIT's boundaries by skirting too close, like peeing on the electric fence to see it it's hot. Yes, it hurts. Man-up and take it.

Man-up and take it.

Really? That's the position you're going to take?

This website is a tool. I will use it as part of a project. If the tool refuses to work, I will get a new one or move on to a new project. I asked questions about that tool; got answers to those questions; expressed my opinion of them; and quietly moved on with my life. You seem to think that those opinions are my decision or that my lack of a stated decision means that there isn't one. You are wrong.

I will let you do some creative problem solving to figure out A. my point of view when I asked the question B. my interpretation of the answers I received and how my perspective on the project changed or did not change and C. just what my decision was and when I made it.

And, finally, I have grown bored with this thread. Respondents are consistently falling into one of three categories: those who are bickering among themselves, those who lecture me, and those who dismiss the lecturers. At this point, I just can't be bothered with you anymore.

You seem to have fallen into the bickering category. Certainly not the read the advice requested and given (multiple times) and moving on category.

(I so hope the Carnal_Flower is still lurking. :D)

Bickering always breaks out around certain topics: NonConsent (rape), underage, grammar. Your bad luck that you, while still a virgin, blundered into one of those.

I may laugh for hours over the suggestion that I'm a virgin. :D

The wish of the OP just not to accept the advice folks took their time to give (and repeat) is the OP's problem.

But it gave Carnal_Flower an opportunity to troll and backbite, so there was that to redeem it.

That was awkwardly done. I meant that the OP was a virgin, of course, and inadvertently set one of the little brush fires that keep breaking out here on the AH.

The idea of out Pilot as a virgin makes me laugh too.

We all have a basic responsibility not to be an asshole and waste other people's time. The story review board here is one person. If you decided to ignore rules and submit crap she clearly won't accept, you're wasting her time.

One of my gripes about this place is that the rules have become a matter of legendary knowledge here on AH, instead of being clearly explained and gathered in one definitive place. If they were, maybe less of Laurel's time would be wasted, stories would go up quicker, and everyone would win.

We do have a responsibility to be responsible writers, aware of the limits imposed upon us and mindful of the views of others (!!).

However, I remember a few remarks made by the Management while ago on the subject of Rules. And, as usual, there's always the problem of wriggle room.
If a Rule says that such & such shall not be done, there are those who will dream up means whereby it IS done, even if in 'a different colour'.

Sadly, several authors do not take the hint, apparently.
Just my 2c worth.

Bitching to us that the rules aren't properly listed anywhere and may or may not be consistently enforced is not going to get you anywhere, because the rest of us are in that same boat, and have been here long enough that we've learned to live with it.

There are threads like this constantly, precisely because the rules aren't properly listed anywhere, and it doesn't take being in these forums for very long to realize that.
