Non-Traditional College Students

I think it is awesome that you are going back to college, EG! :D

I'm good with math. Well some of it, so if you need some help I would be happy to help if I how to do it.

I will take all the help I can get when the math classes start! {{{{{{HUG}}}}}}

I finished my degree online and it was great!

I recently started taking classes again for the hell of it and the joy of learning.

I need to study for my GREs though...if I am going to take classes, it might as well be towards a higher degree.:)

I'm gonna be over 50 by the time I graduate... Just out of curiousity, how many other non-traditional students (I mean had a career, family, etc, and coming back to school? Sheesh, I'm not meaning kinky! *LOL*) do I have for company?

First, congratulations for going back.

Second, a bit of a story about non-traditional students...

About a year into my Associates degree I was table mates with what has to be the most inspirational college student I've ever met. She had married young, had a son and daughter, and dedicated her life to her family. Her son had died some years back (combat related), she had been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and when her husband died she figured that it was either find something to do or drive her daughter's family nuts... so she went to school.

She had two other classes the next term before she got her degree and then she was transferring to the University of Oregon to pursue her BA in journalism.

She turned 91 two weeks after mid-terms.

She was, without a doubt, in the top 5 positive educational factors ever in my life. So, moral of the story... If anyone ever says it's too late to go back to school... tell them to fuck off.

Started again this year, don't ever plan on stopping, really. It's nice to improve the toolkit. After I get the career degree(s) lined out, I'm looking at the fun ones like history.

Syd, your perspective might change a bit after entering the workforce. I was abysmally unhappy on my first pass-through, and it's a lot more fun this time around.
