North Dakota

Only guy I ever knew from Montana was a Biblethumper. Tread with caution out there.

All you need to know...

Watch the movie, "Fargo."

Both my parents are from North Dakota.

Fargo only takes place in Fargo for about 2 minutes at the beginning of the movie. The rest is in Minnesota. Never really did understand that.

North Dakota has the largest tepmature variance in the world. Really hot in the summer, really cold in the winter.

I dunno. I've been to Korea. I think they might be able to kick North Dakotas ass when it comes to temperature variance. :)

You won't need to know very much to make your way in North Dakota. Contrary to popular opinion, fluency in the Sioux language isn't required. But these things are essential to learn:

How to brake on ice.
What "wind chill" is.
What a "block heater" is.
Surviving a flood.
Surviving a drought.

Hmmm and Minot is exactly where I may be going :D

I'm an Air Force brat so I've known my share of people who have lived in Minot. North Dakota (especially the east) is reputed to be gorgeous in the summer--problem is that summer is pretty short.

Weather aside, it's pretty isolated, even more so than Maine. Which you might regard as a positive for all I know.

What about Montana?

I know this first hand!!

Montana is GORGEOUS .

I worked for a big ranch there. Near the Dillon area. I didn't have a neighbor for 5 miles. Fishing was excellent and wildlife abundant.

I played in Minot a few times, always fun when the Canadians came down.

They have a WAL*MART there, and the STATE FAIR which I've heard is good.

Colder than fuck when the wind blows...
