Tyler looked at the manila envelope that Geri handed to him. He heard what she said, but he wasn't sure that he believed it. She had just told him that he was dead...that there was a story in the paper about his death, and that others with him had escaped. What was next for him? Sure, she was providing him with a new identity, but he wasn't sure how safe this really was.
"So, some of your "friends" have helped get new identities for me and my family while other "friends" are trying to kill us and you. Pardon me if I don't feel all the confident in this. How do I know that I can trust the people who provided the new identities? How do I know that when we go to leave the country that there won't be people for us?"
He stood there. There was no feeling in his body He was numb. What should he do? He had no idea. "What is going to happen to you? What are you going to do? Do you have a new identity?" Why did he care about Geri? He wasn't sure, but he was worried about her. Maybe it was the doctor in him that was worried about his patient. Maybe it was that he was attracted to her. Did he really just think that?
"how do I know that you aren't selling me and my family out and using us as a way to get yourself out of a bad spot? You are handing this to me and walking away from us after what I have done for you and what my family has gone through?" He turned from her and headed back toward the cabin without saying anything else to Geri.
