I'm still undecided.

The one you like best speaks to me of "conquest over resistance". I look like I just crawled out of a coal mine on my hands and knees -- thoroughly vanquished.

The original speaks to me of a softer, sweeter, more voluntary submission and relinquishment of control/power.

Still looking and thinking . . .

I very much like this interactive process, btw. I hope it's part of the enjoyment for you (collectively) as well. We're sorta making images together here.

Gotta admit, getting in and out of this arrangement single-handedly without an assistant (PLUS working the camera) was a bit of a trick.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the discussion started by mrsq about the different versions and how they strike you.

I prefer the conventional b/w. The darker looking one may appeal to some people but not me. Don't forget I chose the "brown" shaving pic as opposed to the sinister looking one.

i have to say i was a bit surprised to see the latest one posted in color to begin with, but i dig it. to me the color makes you look infinitely more vulnerable. i like that it's a softer treatment of the scene. it portrays more of a sensuality that the rougher black and whites seem to skip...

I sincerely think that if a female model were photographed in similar pose, colors, soft-focus/diffusion, etc., that the immediate reaction would be a sort of "dreamy sweet submission" mood. And I doubt anyone would think twice.

Is this consistent with what you're thinking/seeing?

Aside from consistently photographing *parts* rather than *wholes* (which most definitely *is* a pattern of mine, and not just here on Lit), I try really hard not to have a predictable "style".

I guess I'm just contrary that way.

I've been reading through the comments on this latest photo and looking at the variations. I really think I enjoy the original the best. With the compromising position you're in the softness of the edges shows your vulnerability. The gentleness that must be 'played out' in a moment such as that.

The "rough" one is good too, but I automatically picture a woman standing next to you dressed in leather gear cracking her whip. It looks more harsh, as if you're not enjoying the 'torture.'

I sure appreciate the sentiment and the enthusiasm, but don't you think that's just a *little* bit of an overstatement?

I'm not sure it's even the best photo in this thread, let alone on all of Lit. There's some pretty awesome stuff out there. Some very talented models *and* photographers.

I love all the pics here on lit. Love watching them. And posting myself (silly pics) i know how much effort each one of lit puts in them. I adore ALL THE PICS HERE.
It was just watching that pic of yours put me in that statement.

I like this version the best. I think it's just the raw, untouchedness (is that a word?) of it. Makes me want to grab a hold of *your* hair.

I can't imagine that was easy to take, and the effort is appreciated. I can hardly wait to see what you come up with next.

If by "untouched" you mean "straight from the camera" or "true to nature", then this is probably the most "accurate" version:

Even in the first/original version I softened/diffused the light, smoothed the skin, and created that "glowing" feeling.

I'm not sure that there's any such thing, really, as a "true" or "accurate" or "perfectly realistic" version of any photo, since cameras "see" things so very differently than the human eye/brain do. (But that's a whole different philosophical discussion!)
