Greetings, everyone.

Just wanted to apologize for being around so little lately. My seasonal work has resumed with a vengeance, and a number of real-life demands have seriously reduced my available Lit time.

At the moment I'm in Washington DC on a part-business/part-pleasure trip.

I've not done any "bits pics", but I've done some nice work here in our nation's capitol (and especially down in the subways). I'll share some of that if y'all are interested. It's not especially sexy, but it's what I've been up to lately.

I love the sunset in the monument pic. The last one is beautiful. I love silhouettes. The shadows in the Lincoln picture are a CTY classic. And the Veteran's Memorial, well just priceless.

The following images -- ALL of them -- were taken in the space of about ninety seconds, with a little pocket-sized point-and-shoot camera, on the subway platform while waiting for the train.

(From the filenames you can see that the first image was made at 7:42:00 PM (194200) and the last at 7:43:33 PM (194333).

I went back later with different/better camera gear. The lines, curves, textures & light in these tunnels -- just fantastic. The subway tunnels in NYC aren't even remotely this pretty.

Finding the beautiful (or the sexy or the exciting) in the mundane . . .

That *so* sums up my approach to photography.

I like finding and depicting the "sexy" in an elbow or a hip.

Each of my images acts like a mirror, I think, revealing as much about *me* and the way I see things as about the subject *in front* of the camera.

In DC last week I attended an exhibit at the Corcoran Gallery -- "Portraits of Power" by Richard Avedon. And his work was almost exactly the opposite: there was hardly any "Avedon" in the images. It was all about the subjects.
