Nurses: just wondering

I'm glad to see that there just isn't Stone , Simply and myself as nurses on the board.
And I agree scrubs are far from sex, but at least they are cool to work in, especially when you are really crazy busy.
Most of the places I worked got rid of the CNA's out of the critical care units too, for the same reason that Simply said, so that the nurses could better assess their patients.
And Simply I have had talks like that with Patients for them doing that to the female nurses I worked with too, but in most cases the females could give a more dramatic explanation to the patient of what was going to happen to them if that ever happened again.

To get on my soapbox a minute.
It really pisses me off when these men make advances towards me. I am not there for their amusement or to be tweaked or pinched at. I am there to provide the best nursing care I can and get you home to your family. It is insulting to me to have someone treat me with less respect than I deserve. And many patients think they can do this and get away with it, but many have found out they can't the hard way. Sexual harrassment is not limited to other work places. And I have gone in with our legal team to a few patients who didn't get it. Once the legal team explained my stance on it, they back off. It irritates me that they think they have the right to touch my body without my permission, because of porno movies showing nurses as sluts.
I'm not there for sex, or to be groped, or leered at. I am there to watch over you, monitor you, relieve your pain, and intervene when needed. Grrrrrrr.. Ok, I'm done.

Never been naughty with a patient, but you didn't ask about with other nurses, LOL ( I met my current "beau" at work, he's also a nurse )
I work in nursing homes, but my favorite work was private duty pediatrics. Those sweet kids! I hope I can do it again some day.

Can I ask you nurses a question?
Tell me that there is, somewhere out there, nurses that are kind to "lower" employees of a hospital staff!!! I need the hope.
I work in my local hospital's "Central Supply" division. Basically, we fill the surgery carts, supply the floors with their stock items, and do basic running around for every little this and that they need. I wouldn't mind doing it, except for the fact that the nurses treat people in my department like Shit!
They call, and five seconds later, expect a PCA pump to be at their door, when we have 8 other units calling in for crap, plus surgery beating down our door for STAT surgery cases.
*pouts* It's not fair! We get them what they want, and I try to be as nice as I can to them, and STILL, I get glared at, or get the "eye-roll". And those are the decent things they do!

First off Licci~Nicci. I don't consider anyone that works in the hospital to be "Lower" employees. Everyone there has an important job, from the Surgeons to Environmental Services.
And I have been guilty I'm sure of being impatient at times with your division as well as pharmacy. And it is true that sometimes we feel that we are the only ones there and what we need we need now. But I happen to love the ladies who work in our Central Supply, they are always ready to help us with whatever we need. But the frustrating thing to us, is that when we request an item, and they don't have it, rather than call us and tell us they don't , they just leave it. 15 minutes later we are calling looking for that item and then they tell us they don't have it. Would have been nice for them to let us know so we can start looking for alternatives. I think the pace of the hospital is so fast and especially in my unit, we have so much going on and usually need the items quickly, that we tend to get snippy at times. But believe me, I have been snipped at as much as you have. You don't have the surgeon on your butt wondering why the patient hasn;t been started on the pca yet, and trying to explain that central doesn't have one , or they haven't found a clean one yet. I guess we all have our share of feeling unappreciated at one time or another. But just to let you know, You are appreciated very much by us Nurses.

It is usually because the nurses are being pressured by the doctors or a very sick patient and sometimes we feel helpless when we don't have the stuff we need.
But you can take it from this NURSE, YOU ARE APPRECIATED.
