Oh, hell.. why not.

Now -that- is high praise, indeed. Would that my writing was not inspired by pain, love.

Pain is a powerful creative force and when channelled into words as intense and passionate as yours, lay a healing balm on others, if not yourself.

They are tanned, finely formed, and deceptively soft. Until you turn them over or catch them in the right light. Old scars crisscross the fingers, newer ones cover the winding veins on the back of them. Turn them over and you can see the punishment he inflicts on them, on himself, while working out. The pads of each finger are calloused and torn, skin shredded from pulling, pulling, endlessly pulling himself up on the wooden beam, until his arms shake and fail, and his fingers cramp into torn claws. Then they push against the bench, pushing, pushing, until his triceps scream and fade. He clamps them on the bench as he crunches, over and over, until the punishment is too much for them, and he can barely sit up. Then it's time to don the gear and finish, curling broken flesh, hiding the pain inside a fist, as he runs, endless self punishment...

reading this... I want to take that man, and wipe the sweat from his brow with my lips...to kiss each scar on his hand...to straddle his lap and hold his head to breast as I stroke his head...saying nothing..while his body relaxing and melts into mine.

I adore this thread...

But why does he do it? Does the physical pain drive the pain from behind his eyes? Does it drive the pain from his heart? Does it help?

It's balance, kitty. Inward pain with outward pain. I don't know how, but it helps.

Pain is a powerful creative force and when channelled into words as intense and passionate as yours, lay a healing balm on others, if not yourself.

I'm not sure healing is what most people take away from my writing, but thank you for that. I want raw emotion to be the reaction, and I sometimes get that...
