However, if Trump is elected, those who oppose him will be disarmed and purged from society. Those who support him will become armed brownshirts charged with reinforcing the autocracy.

ATF/state troopers are not coming to your door to demand to see your firearms or for entrance without a just cause that is then certified into a warrant by a judge. If it were so, it would be a case/lawsuit that even HisA and his bumbling incompetence could still easily win in any jurisdiction - even liberal NYC.

Perhaps you could use your extensive legal background and explain to the class the difference between a "Constitutional Sheriff" and an ordinary garden-variety run-of-the-mill sheriff?
A cursory examination seems to lead one to believe that a so-called "Constitutional Sheriff" (like the one in your linked article) seems to be of the opinion that the entire judiciary in the United States is superfluous, that He and He Alone is the "final arbitrator" of all things Constitutional.
