I've always wanted to try yoga. I just never wanted to be the one guy in a class of all women....wait a sec....yes I do. Shoefly, do you know any good websites or books for the beginning yoga-er?

I completely agree. I used to suffer from panic attacks. Since I started yoga a year ago, I have had only ONE. The concept of meditation through pain is really an incredibly valuable asset.

There are many different types of yoga...something for everyone. I too would encourage anyone who wants to get in shape, and in focus to give it a try!:)

(As for tantric sex, I have read a little about it, but would be interested in reading more. Can anyone recommend some good beginner literature?)

I walk 2 miles a day nowhere (on a treadmill!) ;) and 4 times a week I add aerobics. And even though those both feel too much like exercise, I still do them.

I've never tried yoga but I absolutely love the names of some of the positions: "Down dog!" Aarf!I'm sure it's innocent but you people talking about Tantric sex got me thinking in that way! lol

Anyway, I prefer sports to stay in shape so I play tennis 3 times a week and swim as often as possible. Indoor activities are by far my preferred method of staying in shape. Anybody wanna help me with that? ;)

I exercise to control my hyperactivity

I have tried kick boxing, running, walking, cycling, and yoga. I like yoga it helps with flexibility and to center myself. I like running but alas my knee so now I walk but think maybe swimming would be better. BTW sex is a great exercise esp. if you are the experimental type:D :p

I am in a program at the local hospital wellness center where I work with a personal trainer three times a week.

sex, if done vigorously over a longer period of time than five minutes, should count as exercise. I have had sexual sessions that have left me sore the next day

So Rambling, where do I sign up?

in the summer

I play soccer 5 times a week - but in the winter i only downhill ski

Get to the gym about twice a week, should go more often, but well, you know. I do mostly aroboic stuff: stair master and bikes, sometimes the rowing machine. Afterwords, there is a routine that goes through several Lido machines, the whole thing takes around an hour and a half. Really need to be doing it every other day, though.

Yes - religiously. I started about a year and a half ago after spending about 20 years as a couch potato (hanging my head in shame). When I was younger it was easy - I played sports regularly - I didn't HAVE to excercise, it was part of my life. Then you join the workforce - sit at a computer all day - metabolism changes and suddenly I'm 40 and overweight... *sigh*

Well - I finally did something about it. I'm in the best shape of my life, and that includes when I was 20. I run at least 3 days a week and lift weights at least 2 days a week.

Yesterday I achieved a new personal best - 8 miles in 58 minutes.

A little bit every day - and doing it regularly. A year and a half ago I was lucky to make a 20 minute mile - and even luckier to do 2 miles in 40 minutes.

The hardest thing was getting started. But I'm a goal oriented person - and, when I do something, I do it with everything I got. So I kept trying and trying and did a bit better, a bit more each time... and I'm still trying to improve.

Now I miss it when I don't go to the gym. I try and go every day - but at least 5 days a week. I travel quite a lot, as well, and make sure I stay at hotels with excercise facilities.
