I don't wear lipstick often, because with my skintone (very pale, but kind of pink), not much really goes with it. However, I do wear RED lipstick... like, hooker red, but a little deeper. And I need to know a really good brand that's not going to wear off all over the place, but that has shine and looks beautiful. I'm really tired of wearing a matte red lipstick, and just... I need help!

Do any of you have any brands you'd recommend? What about shades (of red)?

Thanks in advance.

My oldest daughter is an Avon Lady, so of course I'm going to recommend Avon.com to locate an Avon Lady near you. :p

Seriously, though, Avon has a selection and quality that compares well with other brands and is very competitive price wise -- at least in the products I use like shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap.

This isn't necessarily long lasting, but i like Clinique's "Surprise." It's a really nice shade of red with a bit of gold sparkle (but it's not particularly glossy). It may be worth checking out. It's hard for me to wear red b/c i have uneven skin tone, but this one actually looks pretty good.

Hi Vix
FOr a nice beautiful red, I like to use Avon's Long lasting formula in Fine Wine. It is a bit dry though. I have bought the new Revlon Colorstay, it has a long lasting fomula that bonds to your lips and a glossy overcoat. Very nice, and it really does last all day.
Good luck!

I haven't tried it, but the "Wet Shine Diamonds" line from.... from.... uhh...

Ok, now I *gotta* search this month's COSMO!

Maybelline!

Any way, I haven't tried it but it looks nice!

:rose:

My favorites are Benefit and Perscriptives. I also have a hard skin tone to match stuff with and I have had excellent luck with both of these brands.

I love the red from the Wet shines line as well- spoiled in rubies, but my favorite is the Loreal rouge pulp- its a cherry red Hubby loves it too!

neither of them last very long but oh well, thats life!

Lipstick

I am a Loreal gal, because it is basically Lancome, but cheaper. However, I suggest your ultra cheapie, dollar store lipstick. I couldn't even tell you what brand. I am a brunette and have a light natural tan, so I have tried allll sorts of reds because it is "my" color. Believe it or not, this has worked best for me in terms of staying on.

It's not a cheap brand but Estee Lauder has a nice " warm toned" red called Ancient Brick. It has a gold undertone to it and wears very well without drying out the lips.

Maybelline's wetshine diamonds line also has a few nice shades of red if you want to go cheaper.

I've actually had good luck with lip-sealers: gloss that holds the color on your lips. Sounds like this would be ideal, since you want shine and protection. I wish I remembered the brand I have, but I just got it at a drug store--pretty cheap and it's quite helpful when I'm going red red.

I have good luck with Max Factor's lipstick...the one with 2 sticks inside the package....one has the lipcolor and the other has the gloss. The lipcolor stays on forever! but you do have to keep applying the gloss throughout the day.

A bit more pricey, but I don't buy anything else.

I like Avon and Almay. I usually wear browner reds, though, more bricky, I guess. For shine, I buy a clear lipgloss and use it over top. Avon does make this stuff called ever-glaze, but it's not a regular lipstick...don't recomend that, but the shade I have is Merlot. You'd prolly like that, but I DEFF would look for it in their other lipsticks (although I don't know if it exists in the others). The ever glaze looks really cool when you first put it on, but then it does this weird thing that I can't describe. Just to clarify, that's the only Avon product I've ever had a problem with, love their other lipsticks, though.

Mary Kay works best for me. But let's be real for a moment if you really want to know what looks good on you. Brand has little to do with it.

Demos work good in having many friends to give a subjective opinion in one nights gathering. Skin tone and other make-up will generate different colors and types that best suit you.

Really the dollar store idea of buying multiple colors and trying them out is not such a bad idea. Two things are really important one do you like the look and two do the men like the look. Un less of course you like the women then change put a women in the sentence above.

Sometimes it is worth getting a professional opinion but remind your self that is just the way they like to see it. I vote to get many multiple thoughts and take the average.

Lipstick

Cover Girl Outlast - works wonders. Put it on in the morning, still have it on the next morning. Definitely don't have to worry about "lip rings".
Comes with a gloss stick to keep it moisturized and wet looking. The key to this is wait for the lipstick to dry after first applying and then apply gloss. It can feel tacky if it drys out too much. But I love it - it's all I use.

Merlot to Go is a great color. Applied just right, it leans to the burgundy side - stunning on pale skin.
Enjoy!!

P.S. Wal Mart is the cheapest place to get it.

the wet shine diamonds really does not work

just get lipglass from mac in clear and put it ontop of your regular lipstick for a good wet look

also the revlon colorstay does work extremely well, but is not recommended for daily use as it does dry your lips out
