Old School Musicianship… Rock and Roll.. Jazz… Blues… Big Band even…

One more. R.I.P Marianne

I'm gonna go down to the rec room and put this album on the turntable and listen to the whole thing. Maybe play this twice (I think it was banned on the BBC. I heard it regularly on Q107 and CFNY in Toronto.

Why'd Ya Do It?

Morning everyone. I was thinking of music when I woke up today and girl names came to me. I started looking and thinking of good old oldie songs with female names. Here are a couple I think were excellent.

Jennie Lee by Jan and Dean

RIP, Jan Berry.

As I researched these songs, I came across a new song (well new to me) that I had not heard before. They call it swamp music!

Colinda by Rod Bernard (1962)
Love LA music

I love this song. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Rock and Roll Women, eh? Maybelline. Peggy Sue. Barbara Ann. Sharona. Layla. Angie. Roxanne. Billie Jean. Lola. Gloria...

But my favourite is Julia, by the Beatles:

Why? John wrote that song about the Julia in his life: his mom. Yep, John made his mom a Rock and Roll Woman.

Yep I hear you Tans and all those songs are good. I hear them most days on Sirus. But I was thinking of the names you don't hear any more. Like this one.

Eddie Cooley and the Dimples - Priscilla (1956)

Where can you find a group today who call themselves The Dimples! :)

.....Annie Lennox......"Legend in my Living Room....I chose this song as it is one of my favorites from the Diva album.....not only does Annie give a strong vocal performance on this album, the recording quality throughout is outstanding, and I highly recommend giving this album a listen

Let's do one more.
Walk Don't Run by The Ventures

They are all gone now. R.I.P., Bob, Mel, Nokie, and Bob - thanks for the timeless music, guys!
