I gazed out the window of the van, fixating my eyes on the vast landscape of Texas. I was here with three of my dearest friends on what was supposed to be a crazy road trip of a lifetime, but I never imagined the drive to be this dull. What more, my boyfriend couldn't even show up at the very last minute. Apparently, he had an important job interview. Our relationship has been going downhill ever since I told him that we might not end up going to the same colleges.
At this point in time, the heat was really getting to me. Now, our dear driver wasn't the type to equip his vehicle with air conditioning. Obviously, the hot rays from the sun were devastating. "Next summer, we better have a car with air conditioning..." I thought to myself.
I was right about to drift off to sleep when over the horizon, we saw a hotel. It wasn't five star, but it looked much better than the sleazy motels you'd see often when traveling.
"Hey, why don't we stop here?" I said, now sitting up properly. "We could wait this heat wave off."
No one was reluctant to agree. I guess I wasn't the only one practically dying from the humidity in the air. Thankfully, we all saved up enough money for just this occasion.
As we entered, it was obvious that they don't normally get a lot of visitors, as we were greeted rapidly. They explained to us all the facilities in the hotel and I immediately wanted to dive into the pool mentioned.
"Let's go swimming!" I say excitedly as I grab Ryan's arm.
"Wow, where did all this energy come from?" Jamie snarly remarked, her hands on her hip.
"Well come on, you're telling me you don't want to swim right now?" I replied.
"I don't know...I could go for a drink right now." Ben said, handing over our bags.
"Hm, what do you think Ryan?" I asked. Both sounded really appealing right now and obviously we would try both today. The question was; which to go for first?
