If we assume the threat of nuclear war is past, knock plutonium, only three existential threats to civilization remain:

1. Climate change.

2. Wealth inequality.

3. Technological unemployment.

Can anyone add to that list?

We need some wealth inequality to encourage people to work harder. The degree of wealth inequality we have now is dysfunctional.

Human population growth is a problem. More people mean there us less of everything good to go around.

More mouths to feed = more hands to work.

Population growth is NOT a problem. With the current fertility rates human population will peak (if it hasn't already) around 2040 and begin decreasing thereafter. Population contraction will bring other, and just as dire, consequences.

AI is part of technological unemployment. Civilizations can survive pestilence. Water is mainly a problem when it comes to food production.

illegal aliens from outer space attacking earth

robots turning on the human race and starting a war

i guess animals mutating into human animals like cartoons style and starting a war against humans

I suppose for the sake of completeness, I should add peak oil.

In several books, James Howard Kunstler has pounded the idea that the collape of industrial civilization is imminent for that reason. In his view, there is no substitute for petroleum -- the kind of civilization we have built cannot run on any alternative energy source. But this is a minority view, and Kunstler is no engineer, and by his timetable to collapse should have happened 20 years ago.

Which sounds great, getting machines to do all the work, until you realize you'll still be living in a society where you can't get by without a money income.

unlese being social media workers and having jobs in the entertainment universe and sports galaxty are the new ways of common employment
