Ooc: 2112

Rules for the OOC Thread

Please, please, please...! Do not post here ... ever!
1. It is my hope that, even after the role play has been going for a long time, new writers will want to join in; and it is my experience that most new writers will not do so unless they can catch up on the story easily. That's why I attempt to maintain an easy to follow OOC Thread ... and I can't do that if writers are posting things here that should be PMd to either the Host or to other writers. This is not a writers discussion thread!

2. If you have a character profile -- or even just a character concept -- that you want to introduce, PM it to the Host. The Host will review it and deal with it appropriately.

3. If you have a plot idea ... same thing!

4. If you have a question or comment about a post in the Story Thread ... same thing!

5. Essentially ... if you have any sort of OOC reply you wish to make, PM it either to the writer you have the question for or the the Host (or, preferably, both.) But please, do not post it here.

6. The Host will deal with all PMs he receives appropriately. Most that involve other writers will be posted here by the Host on pages created specifically for them, for all writers to see. So, as you can tell, all questions, comments, and concerns will be addressed ... without them being posted here by writers!

I really appreciate your help ... seriously!

FAQs

Questions, comments, and concerns from writers are presented twice:
"Section One": new FAQs, listed newest to oldest with the date they were addressed by the Host. Questions will remain here for about a while, then be removed; see "Section Two".

"Section Two": All FAQs answered above, in order of what the Host feels is most important to both current writers who may be looking for forgotten details and new writers wishing to catch up on the story before joining.

SECTION TWO

Crime and the Criminal Element

Crime and the Criminal Element:

Crime is punished harshly; in theory, both the accused and sentenced still have most of the same rights that were available to them a century before ... in theory, but not in practice.
-- The Justice System is anything but just. Legal representation is almost unheard of, trials are quick, sentences are harsh.

-- Many male inmates are sentenced to hard labor, often cleaning up toxic areas for the future development of businesses or recreational facilities for the Elite Class. Many male inmates die; others simply disappear, "transferred" to prisons they never reach.

-- Many female inmates end up in sexual servitude -- to everyone from male convicts to the Elite, both male and female -- or in forced manufacturing laboring position; some join male inmates and work side by side with them in hazardous, forced labor situations. Females whose DNA surveys show them to be of above normal health are often moved to "baby factories" where they become Carriers for the Elite who are unable to successfully produce healthy children of their own.

Prisons:
-- Prisons range anywhere from tent encampments near toxic waste dumps that the Inmates are cleaning up; to maximum security facilities where inmates live out their days in a three by six cell with no interactions with others ... ever!

-- Most prisons allow no visitors, no press, no governmental supervision, and no legal representation.

Oh ho! I see the possibilities already. I bet ANYTHING there's a black market.
