OOC: Dawn of Magic: an animals quest.

Would this be played more like a Wolf's Rain thing, Cats? I am just trying to understand how the character you posted helped out at a carpentry shop makeing chairs?

Name: Erfahren "Fa" Bär
Race: Brown Bear
Occupation: Fisherman
Age: 37
Hair: B-R-O-W-N.
Build: A muscular bear starting to pack on the pounds of a simple life.
Eyes: Brown. Blind in right eye, severly nearsighted in left.
Bio: Like all bears, Erfahren has poor vision, decent hearing, and s trong sense of smell. The right side of his face is scarred, his eye blind, and most of his ear is ripped away. He may have more scars, but his fur hides them.

Fa was a soldier, somewhere far away, but that's all he'll say. He speaks with a heavy accent (I'll be using basterdized [incorrect] German for this. I'm not in the mood to be creative. Complain away). Anyway, he came here with fresh scars, little money, and little understanding of the local language. He was barely accepted into the community, mostly because of PC.

Fa spends his time fishing, but will help out with any big projects needed. He's a master woodcarver, but rarely works at it. He keeps to himself mostly, and has an unusual aversion to wolves.

I think he means it to be played like a more serious kind of disney thing, where the animals act as people and it isn't questioned.

Wolf rain, didn't watch much of it but I think I understand your question. Essentailly I've been toying with the idea of trying this for a few months so far. The animal concept isn't ment to be a focus of the story as in wolf rain but to simply be a subtle part of it. The animals are another chance to be creative with your charcter, it's a way to say something about your character's personality. Also I hope the animal feel tends to take us into a difrent direction from most threads.

Okay here is some info I should of posted about PC, first PC may or may not be his actual name, it may just be his initails but no one really knows. Next he is an ageing grey Cat, he tends to keep his head crooked to the side and his mind in deep thoughts. One thing he is noted for asking some town members is "Have you given thought into your next meal."

*laughs cause Gad that's so like the real PC...*

and I really will get around to posting my characters...the zebra definalty and whichever other one I feel compelled to do....prolly monday or thursday when I have time again.

Shoto I forgot to say, you can be an ass if you want too. :nana:

Good question arc, if you have a good plot idea in mind PM me, if you don't have much of an idea already developed, best to stay away from that for a while.

Well, here goes nothing:

Name: Lyle (Bandit) Kaiser
Race: Black Fox
Occupation: Ex Thief, currently working at a resturaunt as a waiter and assistant cook. (Actualy, he's a Private Eye, but buisness is slow, and he needs something to past the time.
Age: 19
Hair: Black and white tipped.
Build: Slim, slightly toned build, black fox ears with white tips, and a black fox tail with a white tip.
Eyes: Crystal blueish-green.

Bio: Bandit was once a infamous thief, but after a incident a year or so back, he decided to hang up his cloak, polish and display his trusty weapons, and forever leave the dark life of stealing.

However; Bandit didn't entirely abandon the life in shadows. He now works as a private eye, using the sources he used to use for his own greed, now for other people. But lately, buisness has been slow, and money haven't been flowing in as much as it had before, so while he's waiting for a new case to open up, he works as a waiter at another former theif resturaunt.

(This is just a protype I whipped up, I may change it later.)

Heh... funny cats. :p I was thinking of having a light character since the other thread with Rone supposed to get heavy. But it'll take time I guess.

Well, my donkey chara, I'm thinking, to be a drunk bum who comes in occassion to other charas in the town and wrecks/keeps them busy with their place.

Now if becomes a mythical chara, I wanna be a dragon. :D

But I still don't know the genre of this thread. Will it be comedic or fun type of story (because you said Ol' McDonald) or will there be conflicts and drama (like FF).

o_O I'm surprised there isn't a seductive Cat for a chara. I mean this is Lit after all.

for what it's worth my zebra, at least, is an escaped convict.

kudos to those of you who get it first.

Yeah Sho, my thread will be very serious but with one of the characters that I am playing it will hopefully lighten the mood. This is what drew me to this thread, right now all the stories I am involved in are serious and heavy, but anyway time for a character post.

Name; Dita
Age; 5
Race: Siamese
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Black, gold and white

Demeanor: Dita is cute and adorable, she loves to play and really has little time for anything else. She loves being happy and smileing and wants everyone else to be the same way. Her smiles and giggles are infectious and she uses them to hide the fact that she does not know who her parents are. It is easy to see that as Dita grows she will turn into quite a lovely creature.

Yay! A cat.

Lolz, who are we talking about? Illyana? She's a little light you say? In what department?! ;)

Okay well I'm not sure weather this thread will be light hearted and deep, both should be possible. My thoughts would be depends on what each person does. How ever I found the longest threads I've been involved in tended to go back and forth, light parts between deeper parts. I imagine most threads that last long enough do the same thing.

Well I said I'd try and have it up today so hopefully I'll have it up shortly.

Okay up.

Oh and Hy, I forgot to mention, I'm not sure how well a PI will fit in with the time period.

Since Cats forgot ... Here is the link Animal Quest

Hmm ... I think Hy's character could still fit in ... Just the name of the job changes ...

now see, at least some bits of thread will be light if I can help it.

hence this:

Name: Jay L. Break
Species: Zebra
Age: (since I think in human and don't know the conversion) 26
Eyes: Brown
Mane: short, bristly, dark

Jay moved into the area a short time ago, though no one can quite recall him doing it, or place a date on when he arrived. He has a habit of being clumsy at simple things, and lives slightly apart from everyone. He has said nothing about his past (though it's obviously rather shady), and tends towards trying to be an upstanding citizen and mostly failing. He wears a curling black goatee, and on occasion he tries to pass himself off as someone other than himself by wearing a brown hat and fake moustache. When he feels trapped or singled out he has a tendancy to babble. A lot.

and my other:

Name: Gidgit
Gender: female
Species: owl
Plumage: brown and grey, molting perpetually
Age: old. She won't actually tell anyone.

Gidgit has lived in Ridge Top for as long as she's lived in the area. No one can quite place where she's from, and her accent chages often. She acts as old as she looks and, while not exactly friendly with the locals, has pride in her home and will work for it's good as long as her wings will hold her. She dosn't fly quite as fast as she used to, but she's still more than adequite. Her greatest dislike is wasting words, and she rarely speaks, but people listen when she does.

Well my thoughts on the PI thing is this. If I think something is being done and have a suspicion as to who's doing it I am more likely to pay a thug then to pay some one to tell me that I was right. Or so that is what I feel the thinking would be. But still the character is welcome, but he's going to have trouble making a living in this small town.

Arc I normally don't post links but thank you any ways.

I'll do a more open post.

Actually, in a 'Castles' type setting which I think is what we're still on, if someone gets robbed, the town will look around, see who suddenly has something new, and beat the crap out of them. It's very difficult in small towns for you to get something and not have everyone know about it.

In the olden times, all your neighbors would rise up and let you know how they felt about you taking other people's property. Even the large towns didn't really have need of someone to go around. Everyone has roles that are important to a community, and everyone works together. The only people who can accumulate material wealth beyond that of their neighbors, and thus have worry about it, are merchants and nobility, both of which usually lived in big places and hired people to watch their stuff.

Theft would be mostly restricted to high trade areas, where taxes would be paid to hire soldiers to patrol around and punish thieves. They'd simply interrogate people and go straight into homes looking for things.

The private investigator didn't come around until 1852, with Allan Pinkerton, the world's first private investigator. By that time, though, their were roads and trains and industrialized societies, where it was easy to move from area to area, taking what you wanted from people. Industrialization allowed cities to grow, since they weren't dependent upon an agricultural society.

Which is what lead to crime being numerous enough and difficult enough to solve to call upon police forces and detectives in general.

I can imagine the character having a tough time getting cases, as there's no need for a P.I. in that time period. Not even the rich will bother hiring someone to poke their nose around when they can just send a few of their own to act like jackasses until the thief's neighbor's say, "We're not letting our lives go to Hell for you, we're turning you in!"
