"Firewall: Try, try again"​

This Thread is both the Interest Check and the OOC Thread, the prior now, the latter once we get started.​

INTEREST CHECK​

Whether you saw the movie "Firewall" or not is not important; basically, this RP is about a family that gets taken hostage as incentive to make the Father perform a task for the Hostage Takers. (There is more about the plot nearer to the bottom of this Interest Check.)

WRITERS WANTED:

At least one FEMALE. There will be multiple female roles. If you want to write them all, I welcome it; I find it easier to write with a single female writing all the female roles. BUT ... if you don't want to write them all, I will look for more female writers.

At least one MALE. There will be multiple male roles as well, good guys and bad guys.



CHARACTER LIST:

Primary Characters: These Characters WILL be in the RP.

Secondary Characters: These Characters can be added if interest is shown by current or new writers.

WRITERS EXPECTATIONS:

Posting Frequency: It's hard to say "once a day", "twice a week", or what ever; we need to see how many writers we get and how fast those writers post. But I have two rules that ALL Writers will follow:

>>> First, if you don't post within, let's say, 2 days and you are holding everyone else up, I will play your character for you.

>>> Second, you will not advance the RP "clock" independently in such a way that other Writers who haven't posted yet now won't be able to, because you went to fast!! If you do this, you will be asked to delete your post and submit it later. (On another site, I started a "Firefly" RP that was hi jacked by two writers who were posting 15-20 times a day, seriously, and moving the plot along four or five game days to each real day. I had to quit my own RP because I couldn't keep up with these assholes!!)

Post Length: Again, this is hard to say. I prefer a couple of paragraphs at the minimum, but there will be times when a single line sets up actions for all of the other Writers, and in those instances, a single line will be acceptable. However, if you fall into a pattern of one liners, you will be asked to either contribute more or give up your characters; if you do neither, you'll simply be replaced. Sorry. (If you are conducting a conversation or activity between two Writers that involves the trading of many short posts, you will be asked to do this in PM, edit it when done, and post it for all to read as a single posting.)

Erotica vs. Porn: This in Literotica, not Hustler. No "cunt", "cock", "fuck me hard in the ass you bitch", or "spurt that cum on my face". If that's what you want to write, this is not the place for you.

THIS WILL BE AN RP WITH SEXUAL SITUATIONS ... AND SOME OF THEM WILL BE NON-CONSENSUAL; OTHERS WILL BE COERCED, OR BE UNCONVENTIONAL IN OTHER WAYS. If you don't want to write or read erotic scenes such as these, again this is not the RP for you.)

More about the plot, the twists, what's allowed, etc.: Essentially, the plot is that a family of 4 or 5 is taken hostage by some very well organized Hostage Takers. The Father will be instructed to perform an illegal task or his family will be harmed. The PCs are allowed to attempt to flee or to subdue a Hostage taker or what ever, but remember two things: As a Character, you are putting the life of your other family members on the line; and as a Writer, there will be times when it is okay to subdue or escape and times when it's not, so be sure to check with me before you go and post something along those lines. (There will be plenty of opportunities for the Characters to get brave, and I will allow for that; but the Hostage Takers are professionals, so for the sake of the story, you can just simply say you got loose and killed one of my men, ya know? If you are familiar with the movie "Firewall", then you know that not all of the bad guys survived to the end. That can be the case here as well.)

This thread will serve as the OOC later when we get up and running, so please do not post any "I'm in" replies here PM me with any interest. Tell me what character you are interested in; or if you have questions or comments, add those to your PM as well. (I am aware that the story line is vague; it's meant to be. The Family doesn't know what's happening to them or why.)

Writer Guidelines

Writer Guidelines​

Posting Frequency and Length: These two items are listed together because they work very closely together. I am not a Post Nazi when it comes to frequency and length: if your PC is vital to the progression of the RP, then you need to post with an appropriate length, frequency, and timeliness that allows the other Writers to post for their PCs; if your PC plays a minor role, then ... well, I think you know where I'm going with this.

About Length: "Apples and Oranges". Many Writers write long paragraphs with multiple sentences and little dialogue, or dialogue dispersed within those paragraphs; while some Writers -- your Host included -- write short paragraphs and often separate dialogue and non-dialogue. How do you compare the two? You can't. Therefore, I'm not going to to tell you that you have to post 2-3 paragraphs, when your 2 paragraphs might be longer than my 8 paragraphs!

While one- and two-liner replies have their uses, here are my guidelines about their use:

>>> If your PC is involved in a conversation or a sexual exchange or a hand-to-hand battle or a chase or ... whatever ... that is going to result in you and another collaborator exchanging a bunch of one- and two-liner replies, DO NOT DO IT IN THE MAIN IC THREAD. You have two choices: do the exchange via PMs and when finished, edit (as necessary) and post as ONE SINGLE post; or -- and I prefer this -- create a separate thread, post as normal -- without the rules concerning one- and two-liners, of course -- and when done, post a link to your little thread in a reply in the Main IC Thread.

>>> If your post is short simply because it's short -- and is not part of a multi-post exchange with another collaborator -- then just go for it. Sometimes it's necessary: "The bullet hit Bob. He was dead before he hit the ground." What else can you post? It's not like Bob is going to contribute a 6 paragraph flash back of his life, right?

About Frequency: I would like to see every Writer post every 2-3 days. I do not require a specific number of posts of a specific length within a specific time line. However, if you simply disappear without some kind of warning, and the RP is being held up by your PC, or more accurately by YOU, someone -- likely me, since I'm the host -- will post for your PC, with an attempt to keep in mind your PC's personality and history. If you don't like what was posted ... sorry.

Moral of the story: don't disappear. If you know you're going to be away a while, let the Host (and any person you are collaborating with) know before hand.

About Timeliness: Real life has a way of getting in the way of RPing. However, please use some consideration when it comes to the timeliness of your reply. For example: if the entire RP depends upon you and a collaborator concluding a battle or affair or conversation that we, the other Writers, have been waiting two days for you to complete, don't walk away just before you're finished, leaving the interaction hanging for two more days when you're only game-minutes away from being done.

If you know you will be away for the weekend, or exams are coming up, or ... again, whatever ... don't start an involved role play with another character.
