OOC: New France

The new female character (her name, btw, is Amalie) was cleared with CG before any posting was done. I am sorry if you were confused by this. I wasn't aware that I had to clear everything with every one of the characters before posting. I thought clearing it with the originator of the thread would be enough. I ask forgiveness for having caused you any bewilderment.

As for who she is, she is a woman with secrets in her past. I believe I made that clear in the posts I have made. She is a woman of a certain position within society, not without money, who has come to the new world to try to start a new life, hoping that the old one does not catch up with her.

As for leaving things off balance, is it ALWAYS necessary to end up with a partner? And anyway, I think CG may have a thing or two up his sleeve where that is concerned.

Caspai

If it sounded as though I were coming down hard on you, I apologize. That was not my intent, believe me.

Squaring everything with every player is not necessary. However, this is a large ensemble cast. These are difficult to manage and keep going beyond a week. Communication is key and very, very important. Clearing your character with CG was what was to be expected. Posting a description of your character on an OOC is simply a courtesy to the other players you are writing with. It lets all of us know, not just CG, who you are, what you look like, and what your background is. That way, when we engage your character in play, it is easier to do so.

You will find that many here will not go back and read every single entry made, if there are a lot of entries made. That is the way with large casts. People read those entries that directly affect their character. If they are suddenly introduced to a new character, it helps to go back to the OOC to learn more about that character.

As to whether the ratio of male to female plays a part? Well, quite frankly, it does. Unless CG has plans for a menage a trois, or some one has requested to be left out intentionally, not having equal male and female roles does, indeed, leave people without some one to play with. As time goes on, if typical, all cast member will "pair up" - it's the nature of the beast - and the one who either does not post quickly enough, or who does not manuver well, will be left feeling a 5th wheel. This is experience talking here, and I can point you to many different large cast threads where this did indeed happen.

Again, I did not mean to insult your character. I was just curious as to who she was. And a short description here in the OOC would introduce her to all the other players as well. Think of a large case putting on a play. If you suddenly have an actor appear within your cast whose character you know nothing about, how do you interact with that person? How do you know how to play with that person? Same goes for these large character threads.

Of course, CG could just disregard everything that I say - I am only a player, not an originator. And I would respect that.

I second what Chele has said , especially in regards to pairing up. Cg himself has indicated in a pm sent out long after the thread started that pairings on this board are not "natural' and were set up when the thread was first started. I was unaware of this arrangement.
If in fact this was the case, then it makes an even pairing of partners even more crucial. I for on e would not want to be the fifth wheel and not know that there was no chance whatsoever of striking it off with anyone, since there partners were already chosen.

I am sorry If that there appears to be conflict among the writers.

All female players from the start knew the pairing of players.

A new player asked if she could join, after the last PM went out. She was aware of the initial setup in relation to pairings.

I liked the idea of the uneven match and she was comfortable with it. To play a lesser role as a distraction to both male and female characters there by keeping the suspense up to the reader. As the pairings of the main characters developed.

All good stories have conflict between the characters. It builds the interest of the reader. Some roles are major others are minor.

I allow two writers to join after the initial roles where filled their pleas and idea for characters where inspired in my humble view.

The interest expressed in the initial contacts was to develop characters, and relationships. This is of course an investment in time and energy.

Thank you CG. As always you are the (oh, did I mean "a?") true gentleman.

Both parties are on the move.

The request to head your post. Is made again it helps to keep the parties straight.

If you chose not to participate in this thread please E-mail me.

As of know all Writers have indicated that they are active.

Caspai, I know that you have stated you wanted me to PM you if I had a problem with something you have said, but since you have posted this to a public forum, you have made it a public issue.

Your veiled insult to Ariosto is unappreciated by me and several others who have worked with Ariosto and have come to know him. The idea that you would even insinuate that he is nothing but the utmost of a gentleman on this board is simply a reflection of the limited time you have spent here at Lit.

I would suggest that, in the future, you wait until you have gotten to know people here first before insulting them.

....

I don't get the insult. Is it more of a private insult in reference to something I don't know about? Or am I just dense? Or is it possible that she wasn't insulting anyone?

I'm afraid I missed it too.

Although I did go back and try to find it -

BTW since CG is the originator of the thread it's cool with me if he needs a non sexual male or a male with multiple women or whatever but PLEASE don't ask me to pair up with some other guy - even in my widest imagination I doubt I could write that.

Yeah I know it would stretch my abilities as a writer but some things just don't work ..................

To All

It may be one sided of me but I plan to run this story if I have but 2 characters. I love this story for it is the story of both my peoples. I may have been too ambitious, by seeking the best talents I know of.

C G Raven.

Curtian is up

Present situation:

1. The captain was a temp device to move thing from Quebec to the estate. When ship is gone so is he.

2. Natives coming down river. Will give 24 hrs for ship passengers to debark and go to manor. Swash's character to lead them there. ( ref: Swash's 1st post for description of estate.)

I have seen to the rise of a stately home where there were nothing, but wilderness. Perched on the fringe of the world, and someitmes beyond the reach of civilization. I have raised myself a fortune. My farms are prosperous, my mill provides timber for export to France. Now after a lifetime of labor, I thought I could relax and enjoy the odd brandy and a fine book, by the fire.

3. Caspai character is ashore.

4. Ladies you are hunting your men, if not married they got sent to a convent , gals make obvert moves on their men.

5. I like your character development.

6. We have a story to tell, and some of the finest writers to tell it. Their styles are different, but the talent outstanding

7. Any questions please PM me. As I said yesterday I have the greatest respect for you all.

To all I would like to thank you for the wonderful writing skills that you have contributed to this story.

The lost of two key figures of such wonderful talent so close together makes it impossible to continue.

Normally I would handle it via a plot twist. But no, there style and abilities will be missed.

I thank you for the time and effort you put into the development of your Characters. Hope fully we can work together again.

With humble gratitude,

C.G. Raven

talented my ass

we have an obligation to the rest of the cast to continue. In RL people die, got transferred, become ill etc. and we don't stop living because of it. Consider it a challenge to IMPROVE your own skills and forge ahead. I refuse to be bushwhacked by freaking prima donnas. If there is a legit reason for the defections so be it - move forward and respect their absence with better writing.

I say GO FOR IT!!!!!!! Quitting is not an option

The story goes on.

The story con tinues.

Ladies please go after your man.

All are at the manior know.

And pleas remind me who you are after via PM or if you want a change.
