OOC:The Forest(please come and join)

Option 3

Aye, I'd agree that option 3, or a variety on it, is the best. To have the set-up of Calash's long-term lover and other party members wiped out, then he suddenly becomes a marauder for the good guys, is lame at best. Perhaps a combination of 1 and 3... with the Reine devising some sort of covert distraction to the meeting that gives Calash opportunity for escape (though this may be a tough endevour, with the tracking abilities of the woodland folk).

Damn it posted on the wrong bloody thread

oc: alright sorry I posted on the wrong thread (the other "The Forest" thread)..oh well..I'll do it again and I'm not a newbie, just have a new name. Now for the woodland character I ALREADY made...
Name: Lenix
Age: 26
Race: Human
Class: Rogue
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Smoky Grey
Height: 5'11
Bio: Like many outlaws, he traveled to the forest to escape the law and after a year of living there he feels a strong attachment to his new home and recent events have pissed him off (excuse my language) just as much as everyone else. Now he is noone special (no secret son of a king or is actually a wizard). But he can fight and he can steal and he can charm. A truly lovable rogue.
Now then....
I was thinking a human rogue who has been in the forest only a year has no place in the heart of the council meeting...and I noticed earlier that it is in the opinion of some that Mistress's character should join an adventuring band....well we could hook up and go off to fight the good fight....
Oh and for referance, I think whatever happens there should be a big war with a climatic battle that makes and breaks heroes and villans alike.
C'est bon?

Hmm.. I have a problem. Atm, Calash and the boys are one step away from threshing out just what is his problem with the forest people. And if they do this, reparations will be made, Calash will apologize, and some peaceful solution will be found. Which would be great in real life but would turn the whole storyline into a boring 'love one another and get along' thing.

I can see a few alternatives, maybe if you let me know which you think would be best:

1) Calash escapes before the details come out and comes back to the meeting place with a big army.

2) Calash just refuses to believe the forest people (This is a little bit dull, and does raise the question of just how dumb Calash is)

3) The Reine (guys who ambushed Calash) actually want a war for reasons of their own and somehow manipulate events so the truth never comes out

4) Calash finds out the truth and goes back to tell his brother the king, but the king still wants the lumber and ignores what Calash has to say. Disgusted, Calash throws in his lot with the forest people

I like 3 and 4 the best, but I want some other opinions

I would have to say option number one to me looks the best. It would be good to have one of the posters as well as the GM represent the oposition so that it does not get stale.

Chewey

I agree with Chewey... the opposition should not be entirely GM based. I am, however, still holding out hope for more to join the thread... perhaps a leader, or important member, of the Reine?

i also hope that more people join,so that we have people on both sides. If anyone wants to have more than one character, make it the opposite side of ur current one.

I'm thinking of introducing another key figure, but it's a major plot twist, so thought I'd present it first and get feedback.

The figure (I've yet to determine specifics on him, though his task is laid out clearly enough... likely a dark wizard or the like) has no bias towards any of the parties involved. He simply wants to control everything. Using his connections with the Riene, he twisted the mind of there power-hungry leader into the bloodbath that ensued, knowing this would force a response from our local Prince. Afterward, he swept the Riene to a safe-place until there army could be put to his use again. His sole intend is to cause the conflict of each group against the other, so he can sweep in with his forces and mop up the survivors.

Sounds good, Darkthought. In my last post, I'd been playing around with the notion that Calash might have been being manipulated mentally... that certainly falls into line with your idea.

Incidentally, could you or Soul Edge or someone PLEASE have the Reine or the humans or someone launch an attack or a diversion or a fire-drill or something to give Calash a chance of escaping? :)

how about after the meeting you somehow escape?,then you would know what the council decides to do.
maybe a human agaent of the dark wizard person Darkthought is thinking about?

I agree with Soul Edge, if the Reine attacks the council , then all the creatures will be after it. Maybe once the meeting is over, as the Prince is being led away, the two guards are killed by magic and the prince spirited away.

Nice...

I was sort of setting up the Reine attack with K'larn's note of "something amiss". Pre-emptive planning that would have turned into nothing had you all disliked the idea.

I'd love to launch the attack on the council, but think I'll post a first thought from the new evil guy (still thinking about his details)... and am hoping someone will jump in and take over the Reine (or at least their leader, captain, whatever)... I can do it if you want, as the Reine seem to be sort of pawns for the evil fella, but if someone wants to do it, we can turn them into an entity unto themselves later in the story. I dunno... I can weave both parts together if your all fine with that.

Ya know... nevermind. I'm going to start the whole thing now, and get this post moving. If someone wants to jump in at some point and take over the Reine, feel free to post intention here, it's open for grabs. For now though, in the interest of keeping this going, I'll take the reigns.

Name: Talamein Getarik
Age: Unknown
Race: Human?

Appearance:

Clothed in a cloak, black as night, with a cape of brilliant white. His hair, grey in colour, hangs low as it washes over his clothes. His beard is as his hair, long and flowing. He carries a staff of dark, knotted wood, ending at the top in a simple large curl.

Description:

Lore of Talamein is known throughout the ends of the land, though his home is known to none. His place of residence is unknown, as he appears as a traveller wherever he is seen. He has spent many years reading and studying, as has, for the most part, kept himself segregated from society. Not known as a troublemaker, yet not known as a peacemaker either, his true intentions and ambition has escaped reveal throughout his plotting and staging period. Not many would know his grip on the arcane arts, or about his relationship with the Reine. Over a long period of time (relevant to a human life), he has befriended and twisted the mind of the Reine higherarchy, especially Mk`glok Tug`lamik, Carutu (leader) of the Reine.

Mk'golk Tug'lamik
Race: Reine
Age: 87 (life expectancy for natural death of Reine, approx. 120 years)

Appearance:

To the average eye, the Reine are hard to tell apart from one another. The best physical description for these folk is human appearance with frog characteristics. They are very tall, and their appensages tend to be large at the top (eg. thighs), and tapering off rather quickly towards the extremities (eg. calf/ankle). Their faces resemble humans, though their faces are wider, with large eyes and a wide mouth. They have no visible ears, and their heads are covered with brown (often mud-covered), straw-like hair. Armour is made of an ancient technique, involving rolled swamp-weed braided with various closely-hidden ingredients. It is extremely tough (like chain-mail), yet light weight, with a muddy-brown appearance. Mk'golks armour has a more green appearance to the common eye, and wears a green/brown crown that appears to be part of his head, not an added piece of jewelry.

Description:

His hatred for beings outside the swamp has been tweaked over time by Talamein, whom he regards as an extremely intellegent man, much more intellegent than himself. He has been taken to a mental point where he believes everything Talamein says to be fact, and would not question one comment. He still firmly believes he in in complete control of his own actions, as Talamein has never given him an order, only suggestions and information about his enemies. The Reine follow him without question, for any of their kind that show any sort of rebellion in their youth are quickly done away with before they reach maturity.

I'm being a thread-hog... sorry.

I'm going to set this up as a Reine attack soon on the council. After the attack is over, I would suspect the council to reconvene to make decisions. I don't think they would have made strategic plans in front of Calash anyway, as his presence there now is for peace talks (supposedly). No sense in dragging this out to a decision, only to have to do it again right after Calash escapes.

Anyway... I'll take a bit of time to think this over, then get this going.

Just step in if anyone thinks this is going the wrong way, I don't want to control this thread, just want to get over our drawn-out introduction and get it a life of it's own.

That is fine with me, just be prepared since I am sure the council will vote for the genocide of the Reine, since they had the temerity to attack the council.

Story line is going alittle slow.......

MY post I just made will give the chance for a either a new character or an old one to come in. Doesn't matter who has Liviana, whether good or bad, good would be nice though :p If no one takes it up then I'll invent my own new character. Anyways, when things started being attacked someone grabbed her, someone strong and for some reason she could not break their grasp, it can be a magical spell or just a really strong person.

Mistress, hope this fits in to where you were going. I gather this thread should have 2 or 3 story lines happening at once, which will converge sometime in the future. Anyway, leaving the next move to you. :)

Whoops

Wow, I definately missed the OOC thing, and just leapt right into the story, you can tell I'm new at this. I apologize for that, so lemme re-post the bio here, and I'll edit it out of the main thread.

Name: Arloch
Race: Vampire
Class: Shadowknight
Age: 133
Affiliation: Kingdom of Hel
Appearance: Tall, and strong, freakishly so for a vampire. His skin is pale, and his eyes black, to the point where there is no distinctive pupil. His hair is black, and cropped fairly short, with a goatee, and a silver stud in his lebret. (between the lower lip and chin.)

Emissary from the Kingdom Of Hel, it's Arloch's job, basically, to choose the side on which Hel will enter the war, should it feel the urge to intercede. Even though he is on a diplomatic mission, he antagonizes members of each race, treating them all as inferiors. He's a wildcard, who could prove to be a valuable asset all by himself, not to mention the Kingdom he represents.

Might I try my luck?

Character Name: Arie Silvermoon
Race: Half Elf
Age: unknown
Appearance: Slender, slightly taller than a full elf at 5'2'. Copper hair, worn in a thick braid down to her waist, hazel eyes.

History: Arie was born to a human mother, her father disappeared when it became known he had sired a child on a human. Raised in a small clearing in the woods, she is neither accepted by the humans nor the elves. More at home with the animals of the forest, she protects them at any cost. Even her own life. She is adept with a bow and has some menial magics.
