OOC: The Price of Freedom

Well then, I'm using a very familiar character sketch that I like, with some modifications. Cris. No magic, no armor, no sword, no cloak, not so human. History custom made for this thread.

I can see him wandering around with a trenchcoat or something like that on.

Post a bio here, with a power and you are in.

I'm on a bus headed to Vegas, but I don't know where I started from since the location of the faclity wasn't mentioned...I need a reason to get off the bus.

John "Draco" Hera

Okay, here's the bio for my character. I kept it as real as possible, but if anything is outrageous, let me know.

Name: John "Draco" Hera
Age: 35
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 280lbs
History: He's the product of genetic splicing. The scientists managed to find the remains of a creature that is thought to be mythical: the mighty dragon. In those remains, they found DNA that had been perfectly preserved. This provided them with an amazing opportunity, especially with the science of genetics rapidly expanding. John, "Draco" his "keepers" named him, had part of his DNA replaced with the dragon DNA when he was just a baby, still not able to even see. As he grew up, the dragon DNA showed itself in physical and mental manifestations. His skin is covered from his neck down in solid scales, and his feet changed to be four clawed feet, much like a bird of prey. His eyes are golden, with his pupils being mere slits, like a cat's. His hands are normal, except for retractable claws that can slice through steel half an inch thick. As he grew, a pair of tough leather wings grew from his back. By age 20, he had an impressive wing span: just over 12 feet from wing tip to wing tip. Of course, there were less obvious changes too. He became temperamental. His patience was short at times, and at others, he could endure Barney for 12 days. He knew that because the scientists put him up to it. They showed episodes of Barney for twelve straight days, non-stop, until John finally lost his patience and destroyed the TV. He had maimed quite a few of the scientists over the years, one time taking a man’s arm off at the elbow. That particular incident occurred when the scientist placed a small GPS transmitter under the scales of his back. It hurt, and John wasn’t happy, so he whipped around with his claws, and took the man’s arm off. The man didn’t have time to react. Of course, he would have lost his life if the other scientists hadn’t been quick to use the stun feature of that GPS transmitter. Of course, that incident occurred when John was 10. The scientists never had reason to use the stun again, and they may have completely forgotten about the transmitter.

Abilities: John is a highly intelligent creature; as intelligent as any five of those scientists combined. Of course, the scientists just saw a creature of their creation, not even smart enough to learn a few words. But John learned how to speak from listening to those stupid scientists. They wouldn’t keep any secrets from him. They didn’t think he was smart enough to understand, so they talked openly in front of him. He learned everything from them, everything from their daily lives to the latest developments in the science of genetics. In fact, John learned so much about genetics, that he fancied himself as an equivalent to a leading scientist in that field. Another of John’s abilities is that he has camouflage that exceeds that of octopuses. He can change the color of his skin, scales, and wings at will, even making himself virtually invisible. He can blend in with anything, be it a forest of trees or a forest of skyscrapers; he can change his coloration to match. He doesn’t wear clothes, but nobody would notice that, considering the fact that the colors of his scales match that of a tee-shirt and jeans. His wings aren’t noticeable because of the camouflage. He’s a very strong man, able to rip steel as if it were solid rubber. With his wings, he can easily lift over half a ton in weight to a height of 300 feet, straight up. Another ability comes in the form of a fiery breath. His head and wings are the only vulnerable parts of his body, because his scales can turn bullets ranging from a .50 cal, down. With the .50 cal, it would be like taking a punch from a heavy weight champion, and it would leave a bruise.

I was thinking that the facility, the particular facility the group was brought up in so to speak was inside of the mountains of the Rockies, some where near Colorado.

Blaster: I love the character but can you cut down on some of the abilities a little bit. Can you give him a heightened IQ, somewhere along the lines of 200-250, with learning ability that is. With his scales, would they be noticeable close up, would they look like scales or like human skin? With his wings, would he bump into things with them given the size. I love the idea for the bullet proofing but I wonder about armor piercing bullets?

Can he have a weakness? Like using his fiery breath sapping his strength or something?

The scales would be noticeable up close, but you would have to actually be looking for them to really see them. All you see is an outline of the scales, and they would look like scales. The only part of his skin that is "normal" is his head.

As for his wings, that wing span is when the wings are stretched out to the max. Most of the time he has them folded up behind him, almost flush with his body. Armor piercing bullets, depending on the caliber, would either chip his scales, scratch them, or punch through to scratch him.

As for weakness, he does have that GPS transmitter and stun device in his back. The only way he could be hurt by electricity is to make contact underneath his scales, otherwise the charge stays outside his body and goes straight to ground. But I guess that I can do something with the fire breath.

And as for the intelligence, I meant that he knows just as much as any five of those scientists put together. But, yes his IQ will be about 225.

I like the first post blaster, it gives you an idea of what John is like.

Cannot wait to see what else he gets up to.

Well, I'm not sure, but I think that he will do nothing of note until he's found, if ever. :D

Well I had an idea of everyone going to San Fransisco. The only problem that I have with John is how I'm going to get him there.

John is a very intelligent creature. He can be reasoned with. Of course, none of the scientists knew that he was even able to understand them, let alone speak. Anyways, I have confidence in you Angelus. You'll find a way to convince John to relocate to a big city where his camouflage is would be less effective.

I know. There has to be a way, but short of capturing him and taking him there I know he has to make it of his own free will.

He's going to very hard to find even if his general location is discovered. Maybe you could have that woman scientist go through his file, find out that he was a GPS transmitter in him, activate it, then get his general location. She could then send a representative out to find him. He knows what his name, and nickname, is, if that is any help to you.

That's true.

She will send Josh out to meet John, unless he gets barbecued that is.

John will still be there. There's no reason to go anywhere with food that comes right to you. :D

Do you like your food crispy or raw? That way I know how to cook up josh for ya blaster.

John prefers to get his own food. He normally eats it raw, but that's because he's never had cooked meat. Plus, he's never eaten human flesh before and I doubt that he'll like it if he ever does.

Another thing is that Josh may actually want to live to see another day. And John may actually want to meet Josh, alive.

What's wrong, Polite? Why you giving up on your character?

I had a feeling that you were playing, but I decided to do some explaining anyways.

Actually just today I figured out a way to get her to San Fran and not to Vegas like she was set on. I'll post on Tuesday, got family here today and racking up the time and half OT tomorrow.

sorry, havn't been on in a while, but will try and post more often. So we are all in San Fran then? Sounds good, I was wondering if it was a made up city or a real location. I will try to get together with some of the other characters.

Not everybody is in San Francisco. That's everyone's ultimate destination, but not everyone is there yet, like my character. He's up in the mountains of western Colorado, and he has no inclination to move to San Francisco.
