The story of X-COM begins in 1998, with increased reports of UFO sightings. Tales of abduction and rumors of attacks by the unknown aliens become widespread. The nations of the world come to perceive this as a threat and attempt to form their own forces to deal with this, such as Japan's Kiryu-Kai force; these forces fail miserably, the Kiryu-Kai not intercepting a single UFO in its five months of operation. On December 11, 1998, representatives from some of the most powerful nations in the world meet in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss the issue. From this meeting was born the secret paramilitary organization Extraterrestrial Combat Unit (X-COM.)

X-COM is recruiting field operatives to battle aliens and learn more about the enemy, their species, sub-species, mutated creations and technology. Will you answer the call to be earths only defense? Seeking hardened soldiers, field medics, scientists, engineers, and anyone with 'exceptional' talents, skills, or knowledge.

Oh ho! I have this game! Well, I did until the old harddrive failed. But I did play it and enjoy it loads!

I'd like to try a soldier or medic. Korean Special Forces. Joon Park has first hand knowledge of the invaders when her squad fought a Sectoid landing site. Joon was one of two survivors but the landing site was dealt with.

As a soldier: she was wounded but saved by the medic, who also survived.
As the medic: Joon pulled the wounded Sgt from the craft just before the engines blew up and applied her skills to saving the badly wounded sgt.

Joon and the sgt (Soo Kil Kim) were PCSed to the X-Com unit as part of Korea's cotribution to Terran defence.

Why can't I get the image of a skinny sectoid with a rather sizable package between his stick legs approaching some naked female X-COM soldier out of my head now?

:)

Ian Drake, a high ranking member of the British Secret Service stumbled upon the existance of X-COM while on a mission. He thought he had tracked the leader of a terrorist cell to his underground base, but what he found was far stranger than he could have ever imagined.

While stealthly searching the strange underground caverns, which seemed to be composed or organic, living tissue, Ian felt something assault his mind, wrenching at his free will. If not for a sudden attack by an X-COM assault team, Ian would certainly have been lost. Something was trying to force him to turn on the assault team. Ian struggled against the control, hesitating long enough to give one of the assault team members the chance to knock him unconcious with a stun baton.

Later, Ian was revived on board the teams jet on their return to base. He was given a debriefing that made it clear that he was now a part of X-COM, 'for security reasons.' The strange thing is, whatever had touched his mind seemed to have woken something up in Ian's brain...

Its funny that you mention naked sectoids Cherubian. I was just doing research for the thread last night and read this:

They are the only weapon carrying lifeform that chooses to go naked into battle. This possibly psychological tactic does not appear effective, since it neither promotes a berserker style morale on their own part, nor do the sectoid size dangly bits appear to intimidate X-COM soldiers.

I always enjoyed the series myself. This looks interesting and I might join if you can get it off the ground.

Well, If everyone that I have heard from is still in, I think we have ourselves a team, especially if you do jump on board Jade.

Well... Whenever I played, I always put my first base in Michigan. LOL! Presumably in an old automobile factory building... How does that sound? If not there, that I am more than open to suggestions.

Okay, so we have a medic in Joon, a psi-talent in Ian. So, what were you thinking of being Jade?

My character was going to be a army sniper guy. I'll be lazy and put his stuff up in story, unless you really want me to post him.
