(Q: What exactly, is a gnoll? xD)
Chard knew that his kind had perpetrated terrible deeds by the past, but from what he could get from her mind felt… Unusual. Torture wasn’t a method to get information, as there was the constant possibility to assault a mind for information. Dark elves were rather the kind to steal or murder in the open, before disappearing into the woods, undetected… Drawing out anything, unless, perhaps, their fun in the bedroom, was against their way of life. He pondered on the idea, and was interrupted by Brennisen’s question.
“Maybe… They seem to truly use you, lack of care for you… In all honestly, Isen, you should look into this when you’re done with me.” He said, looking back into his own past. He saw himself growing up in the slums of Carrion, poor as dirt, scavenging through the garbage of the rich, modern district. Seeing his parents shop raided and destroyed. Learning to fight and kill as chaos took over the town. His first weapon. His first love, and years of new women, lovers or friends. The times of peace joining a gang. Becoming its leader. And finally, preparing to take over Carrion. An ambition that still remained. Rushing through his mind, event as mundane as a meal or important as his meeting with Brennisen, almost 2 millennia of memories flooded him.
Her answer pulled him from his reverie, before he revisited his life in detail… which he wanted to avoid. He nodded slowly in response, trying to get as much information about the rangers, and Randalee in general. The time wouldn’t be around for a long time, perhaps a matter of years, but when he would decide to escape, no one would catch him.
“Gnolls… That could be a problem.” He glanced backwards toward his weapon after so many years of fighting, a simple walk in decent company, peaceful times, with no stakes to keep made him feel nude, as if he was missing something.
“I wouldn’t let your guard down, not until we’ve found as safe sleeping place and have a fire burning… The opposite could lead to a trap.”
(Tried to make the post work with my half-knowledge… Tell me if I said anything that doesn’t work.)
