I couldn't believe that I was sitting on the same table with her. Finally I had gathered up the courage to ask her out and it worked out just fine. But now what? This was my one shot to impress and by the look of things I still had long way to go. We had been seated at this table only moments ago and my mind was racing for something to say; something that would put me on the right track.
I sat there looking at her. She was gorgeous. She looked back at me, too. Obviously, she was also trying to make sense of the situation she had put herself in. She probably regretted having agreed to go out with me.
We made small talk for about five minutes and then I decided that I had to say something of worth.
"Look," I began. "The reason I asked you out is because I really get the feeling that I can be myself with you and that's something very rare for me." I paused, silently looking for a reaction I could translate into something that could help me along.
