Mikaela "Mike" Dawes, 18
Mike Dawes had never fully grasped the whole girl thing. She wasn't like the rest of the girls that was going to Westhill High, New York. She just couldn't understand how they worked. It was like they spoke another language. Mike was an outsider. If it hadn't been for soccer, she would have been miserable. She was a striker in the girls team. Not that it helped her reputation much. Soccer was not that big on the school. Especially not when girls was playing it. Westhill High was all about football and Basketball. The football team was treated as rockstars by the school. Mike did not care though. She played soccer for the thrill, not the fame.
She got along just fine with her team mates. None of them could be called a friend, but they where friendly. The same couldn't be said about the cheerleaders of the football team. The Queen Bee, the cheerleader captain Charlotte Winter was always a bitch. At times she almost seemed to hate Mike. It was all very confusing. Mike could not remember that she had wronged Charlotte in any way. At first she thought that maybe the cheerleader had found out that Mike was gay.
As no one started to tease or bully her she had been more confused than ever. In self defence she started to return Charlottes insults with insults of her own. It was not like her. Mike was usually bulletproof when it came to other people. She had never thought about what anyone felt about her. For some reason she cared about what Charlotte thought of her though. She just couldn't explain why.
