Pesto or Marinara?

Context?

On pasta? On toast? In my coffee? As lube?

In the context of the use to which you are most likely to employ it. Personal lube? - go for it. I've heard that pesto makes excellent CV joint lube, although one has to grind the pinon nuts exceedingly fine.

The answer is red pesto though.

Maybe not for lube. But for anything else.

Pesto is far more delicious in every context, on pasta, pizza, sandwiches, people...

I like pesto in my marinara, but not marinara in my pesto.

Different sauces for different things, and depends on my mood. I wouldn't want to give up either, but if I had to I'd forgo the pesto I guess. There's something about eating a plain slice of pizza with red sauce that pesto will never satisfy.

You also have to take into consideration that there are so many different types of pesto. Are we talking just basil/pinenut in this situation?

Full glass, please

It's all about the wine pairing.

So, a Primitivo with the Marinara, please. Bottle, no glass.

Pinot Gris with the Pesto. Another bottle, no glass, please.

Ciao'!!!

Pesto. Fuck tomatoes.

That's why you caramelize half the onion. The sugars in the onion cut the acid. In a pinch a pinch of sugar will do. Lots of fresh Basil ads a sweetness as well.

As to the pole I guess I'm going to have to go with marinara because that's all I've ever bothered to learn how to make, but I've spent a Lifetime on that.

My marinara ends up being more of a ragu but basically we are talking red sauce.

I do like pesto though so I should probably think about making one sometime see if I like it better. I do like the commercially prepared ones but they taste commercially prepared..

Alfredo is pretty good. That's fairly quick and easy to make from scratch.

I do like a pink sauce but every time I've made it it's because I had commercial Alfredo on hand and I had leftover marinara.
