Some called her cold hearted, others called her a bitch, or militant monster. In the end, she got results and she didn't put up with pansies who didn't want to put in the work, or had given up on themselves. There was one exception, military personnel, for those who had been wounded in action she was surprisingly tender. 99.9% of the time it was the right approach, and for the .1% were usually in need of more than physical therapy to heal.

And because she was good, she got the toughest cases. She managed to keep from burning out, by not getting attached to any patient.

That is until now.

He wasn't the worst case, or the easiest. Neither was he the best looking or most maimed. He wasn't the hardest worker or the biggest slacker. But there was something about him, a determination, that caused the walls around her heart to crack, and love spill out.

OOC so please PM your idea of the determined patient.

His team had been sent to assist with a town which was plagued with traps. All other units were occupied so he was assiting the americans when it happened. Luckily the area was cleared and he was alone when the white light took him.

'Cunningham, Andrew. Shrapnel wounds to the thighs, stomach, face and hands. He'll be fine, but there may be some scars - physical and mental' that voice? Where?

He could only open one eye, vision was blurred and the pain! Wow it hurt. In six weeks he slowly healed and was eventually sent back to the recovery hospital, great - lots of physio! Torture to most. But a necessary process he guessed.

Micah was dressed in her usual, which was navy sweats and a lavender tank top. Her dark hair was tied back in a messy bun. She had a reasonable body, but most of the time she came across as nonsexual. She had no idea how she did, but even her friends commented on how she came across as friend of the family, then a friend you wanted to fuck.

Anyhow, she thought she was prepared for her new client. He rolled in and seemed like every other soldier she'd dealt with, and she was surprised to find herself smiling when he spoke. Accent......oh boy.

She let the session progress seeing how much pushing he would need. Stretching with him was easy, and time seemed to vanish into thin air as they worked together.

well the therapist is OK - she has a great smile and didn't push too hard for the first session. It's difficult to stretch, the wounds have healed but still have that tighness and the muscles need work. His stomach ached once they'd been working for a short time and his thighs burned. Got to slow this down a bit he thought

'so what's a nice girl like you doing torturing men? I'm Andrew by the way...'

"It's more rewarding than sports medicine," she countered, flashing a rare smile. "Micah Calhoun." She was surprised she gave her first name, and surprised she hadn't introduced herself. She was sure there was a name tag or placard somewhere but tags tended to end up getting tangled or in the wash so she never bothered wearing hers.

"Ready for a rub down?" She noticed he was nearing the end of his ability and decided there was no reason to push him right now.

'nice to meet you Micah, are we finished then?' he was relieved, the pain was getting to him now,but he wasnot going tolet anybody see it. 'guess you meet a lot of broken soldiers' he smiled, 'can't be easy'

He eased into a comfortable position and pulled a piece of metal out of a pocket, playing with it foramoment before putting it back.

She tossed him a towel and sat back down beside him facing him. "Yeah, well military personel require a special touch, and not every one gets it." Micah took her towel and wiped her hands really well before running them from his knee down his leg, testing each muscle.

"Should you be playing with that?" she asked nodding towards the fragment. Some developed unhealthy fascination with the things that nearly killed them.

he looked up 'huh? Oh that isn't mine, its lucky, missed my head by an inch or so and got embedded in a wall a year ago, thought I'd lost it till yesterday' he grinned

'So where you from Micah?'

"Around," she avoided the personal question as deftly as possible. Micah had been a military brat, perhaps that was why she knew how to deal with PTSD and the like. Then again perhaps it was, she shook her head slightly derailing a personal train of thought before she began telling him her life story.

"Where are you from? You certainly aren't from around here." She probably should have looked at more than just his injuries in his chart, but sometimes knowing that much about someone could backfire, so she just looked for the need to know stuff for the first couple of sessions. After all she was a physical therapist not a mental one.

There she went again thinking about psychology. She quickly pulled herself back to the present. "You should get the edges rounded off, I know a really cool found materials artist if you are interested."
