Linda had finished another hectic week at work. She was fed up with the continuous moaning and childish behaviour of the few colleagues below her in the pecking order, and just as tired of management bullshit from above. Finances were tight since she had bought her house with her partner and to add to her stress the rumor mill had started about possible redundancies. She knew she was worth more than this, but every time she tried to move on she was pushed aside by some cocky 20 something.
When Linda arrived home she went through the usual routine, coat off, shoes off, kettle on and a flick through the post. Today there was the usual rubbish, cable companies offering wonderful introductory offers, which when you read the small print all became more expensive than the offer you currently received. In the pile was an unusual leaflet, not the sort that usually fell through the door, the message on this one was more like something that was uttered in a radio commercial. Linda glanced at it taking in some of the details and thinking nothing of it.
After an uneventful night with her boyfriend, the alarm broke the serenity of her sleep. The radio filled the air, .Want to move on, new job, new you, we are looking for volunteers.."the words that she woke to echoed those on the leaflet yesterday evening. "... for more details call us, open to those aged 28 - 32, good health, attractive fees paid," the advert was over. Blinking her eyes she rose from bed, dressed and slipped the leaflet into her handbag.
By lunch time her mind was made up, she gave the company a call and after giving them a few details they revealed some of the information about the trial. She made an appointment to speak with them in more detail and was soon accepted. The first appointment was made for Friday afternoon, at this appointment the full details would be revealed and with her agreement the trial would commence.
