Pink Orchid 2025: Story Event for Women-Centric Erotica - Official Support Thread

Sadly, I will not be able to get my planned contribution done in time for the event this year. I'm proud to have contributed to each previous Pink Orchid, and I'm pretty pissed to miss this one, so I hope you'll forgive me if I bitch a little bit.

I have been asked, on a number of occasions, why I don't monetize my writing, why I don't try to "go pro". I love writing, it is a truly fulfilling experience for me. I can't imagine ever not writing.

But it's not the most important thing to me.

As many of you know, I am a recovering addict and a formerly incarcerated person. I have chosen a career in public service because I have had the fortune, with much loving assistance, to overcome those obstacles, and it is the commitment of my life to help others do the same.

My job is not federally funded, but I work with people who rely on many programs that are. On any given day, I might assist a client in applying for food assistance, accessing their veteran's benefits, securing housing, registering for educational programs or occupational training or addressing any one of dozens of other needs. I've taken them to the doctor and helped them fill out job applications. I've filled out their tax forms and even baby sat their kids so they could attend appointments.

That is my purpose, and it is under assault. They are under assault. So, along with my colleagues, I have been working overtime and bringing paperwork home, in order to get as many people as much assistance as I can while it is still available.

Choosing between that and getting a story finished was a no-brainer. But it still pisses me off that I had to make such a choice.

Omie, I promise that Clover and Roxanne will be back as soon as I can get them here.
Trying to find the right words to say, but I think this is best - thank you for what you are doing. There are a lot of scared and upset people here, including friends who face losing health care coverage for the transgender children because of what our state legislature has done. It's heartbreaking to see, and to know what to do about it.

I’m sorry to hear that. I was really looking forward to it. Thank you for contributing before! This is how life is sometimes, but I understand how frustrating it is to break a good streak. I wish your reason was happier though.

Omie, I promise that Clover and Roxanne will be back as soon as I can get them here.
I’ll keep my eyes peeled.

Feels to me like you've chosen a great path.
In caring and assisting others, you've elected to give something of yourself back to the Community and the world.
I applaud your work wholeheartedly.
Writing is great fun, therapy, and very fulfilling. You have set priorities and made a clear choice. To give is a wonderful sentiment....
Kudos to you for that.
Writing will always be there, and when the time is right, you will return refreshed...

I've had the same issues on almost everything for here and not for sale or for money, for years. Paid work always takes precedence over fun for my writing. Then there are those pesky charities I work with, the son unit, the wifey mechanic, and my parental units. Yours's seem more honorable than mine.

Giving your time freely and generously to others is a wonderful gift.
There is value and honour in every gift...
There is no better achievement than to give yourself and your time for the betterment of others...
Kudos....

Sorry to hear this but appreciate the communication, first things first. Hang in there.

May your writing be a salve and a compass.

Slid the MS under the door just before closing time, the thing really needs another week of editing, but somehow even here on Literotica, like Real Life, deadlines drive everything, and I didn't want to wait until next year.

My One Hundredth Story published, somehow fated for Pink Orchid.

Thank you @Omenainen for doing this, I always enjoy both the thrill of the challenge, followed by some good readings afterward.

My last-minute entry for Pink Orchid went live yesterday. Thank you @Omenainen for beta reading and your detailed feedback.
I had started this story for Winter Event last year but could not finish in time. It turned out to be a good fit for Pink Orchid.

Given it's published under L/W, it's received rather well with some delightful comments.

The Double Life - A wife finds her husband missing but its not what you think!

The collected stories have just been published here. I noticed that mine was misattributed to the excellent @Zootonius and have asked for a correction (Zootonious authored the second listed story) - I don't know if this affects anybody else but it might be worth a check.

EDIT - the issue above is now fixed

Happy International Women's Day, everyone! The list is out!

Per my bookkeeping, based on tag searches and people listing their story on this thread, these stories are not on the official list:

A King's Bride
Beyond the Palace Ch. 02
Candy Hearts Galore
Going Down Together
Going, Going, Gang
My Rebirth
The Experiment Pt. 08

if one of those is yours, and the story is supposed to be included, contact Laurel.

Then again, there was some stories on the list that were not on mine, including a first ever German pink orchid!

I'll take the liberty to compose my stats based on the stories on both lists, stay tuned for the statistics. Also, should I count Gruppensex to be the same category as Group Sex :D (I will). I have to say, I'm tickled by the first German story. This also marks the point where I won't be reading all the orchids, because I don't know German. Also, that story did have tags for pink orchid and pink orchid 2025, so today I learned that the tag search only returns English stories to me. Who knew! (Probably for the best though.)

Okay! So, this year we had 38 individual authors, 43 stories, 13 different categories and the word count of whopping 741 351 which is an all time high. All the years combined we're now at over two million words, so I truly could not have done this without you. Thank you!!!!

Categories and story counts this year:

Anal , BDSM, Fetish, Non-Erotic, Transgender & Crossdressers 1
Sci-Fi & Fantasy 2
Erotic Couplings, Exhibitionist & Voyeur, First Time, Group Sex, Loving Wives 3
Lesbian Sex 14
Romance 7

Once again, Lesbian was the favorite pick among Pink Orchid authors.

Special mention to the first ever German story!

Here is to all you lovely people. (We should have our own emoji!)

Thank you for organising such a great event! From my perspective, it's also a nice challenge for some of us to write more sympathetically and to stretch ourselves to different perspectives, during this event and in other stories - to be a part of a cultural shift. I was encouraged by a reader to be part of it and I'm glad that I followed the suggestion.

I wonder if some glitch, technical or otherwise occurred. A good number of 750 word entries likewise didn't make the list in February, and the number/percentage of these PO non-entries seem too high to be explained by folks neglecting to include the 'notes to admin.' I know I'm pretty careful on this and this is the first time a story I published for a challenge/contest didn't go through.

Curious.

Looks like some glitches in the process, also that one story was attributed to AUTHOR which I thought was a cool pen name, except that it looks like it was a column header after all 😁

I hope they get it smoothed out, both for this event and all the ones to follow.

I sent the message an hour or two ago about my story "Going Down Together" missing, and I see that it now shows up on the event's New page list.

Thanks,

There have been glitches with the list of April Fool's contest stories too.

Thank you @Omenainen I have messaged Laurel. And thank you for putting this together and for your comment on my story.

Thank you, as well, for the very kind comment on my story. To think I almost removed the Pink Orchid tag because I didn't think it fit! Wow. :)

Why wouldn’t it have fit? You’re being too modest, methinks. It is an excellent story.
