Plague Journal

Angie, please check in if you are able :heart::rose:

Hi.

I'm doing ok. Still mostly asymptomatic: no fevers and my oxygen saturation is in the mid 90s, which is what it normally is. My main symptom is fatigue. I'm sleepy most of the time. I start to read or watch a film and my eyelids droop and I wake a few hours later. My doc thinks I'm doing a great job of fighting the virus. So far, so good. I'll be tested again in about ten days.

Love you all. In the meantime, this is my theme song:

Good news so far, Angie.

See your Revolver, raise you Rubber Soul. :rose:

i've always found it's the fastest way my body recovers from anything, too; it's like it shuts down any non-essential operations and gives everything else over to the battle.

we're thinking of you, here :rose::rose:

Hang in there Angie and get well soon so they can harvest your antibodies.

Another Beatles' tune, this time Paul solo and definitely one of my faves.

I'm working on it P'tor! Excellent song choice btw.

You've all been so sweet. Between Tzara's daily poem that keeps me expanding my knowledge base, the music, and everyone's concern I'm feeling very loved. I got a card from a high school chum today, a lovely card with a Sgt Pepper magnet attached. My peeps know me well!:D

And for all my dear poets, a deep cut:

Pet lives

An average human lives around seven dog lives,
four to six cat lives, over twenty gerbil lives
but only three or four chinchilla lives,
if our lone chinchilla who died at twenty
is typical and you’re not raising them for the fur.
We're slightly over the lifespan of wild African elephants
but more than double that of their zoo born kin,
roughly twice the life of an average dromedary,
although I’ve never known an average dromedary,
in between the mean for sperm and blue whales
but only eighty percent that of Galápagos tortoises.

Mind you elephants, dromedaries, whales and
tortoises aren’t normally kept as pets. Neither
are viruses, although technically speaking viruses
may not be alive to start with. But nonetheless
this novel coronavirus we humans have
adopted could change
the numbers for
our species.

I heard this tonight, and wanted to share it, and this seems like the best place for that.

Stay safe as you can, everyone.

Angeline, I hope you're doing well. Think about you every day. :rose:

Thanks Callie

I'm good. I've been very lucky to plow through this virus with few symptoms. Lots of fatigue and feeling like I have a mild cold but that's it. I'm just trying to stay centered and get through till I test negative.

That's such great news!

She was posting elsewhere 3 hours ago. Just to put your mind at rest.

Yes I was lol. I was mourning the passing of the great Little Richard

angie? check-in time, please

Doing ok. Still tiring easily and I've not fully recovered my sense of smell and taste, but I am definitely mending. There are still many sick people where I am, both patients and staff. And there have been deaths. I am very, very lucky.

keep doing what you're doing xx thinking of you

We've now lost two family members both in Care homes, one was my husbands twin sister and the other a cousin. Strangely enough a national newspaper had pictures today of girls celebrating the end of the war, and one was his cousin!

Sorry for your loss. Definitely strange things for strange times.

I’ve been avoiding here because I’ve been hoping for the best
I’m so glad you’re doing ok Angeline
It’s strange this online world, online community
Most of you I’ve know longer than my children
And consider all of you friends, mentors, and in some cases
family

So I’ve been worried stupid about you Angie and at the same time knowing there’s little I can do it’s fucking hard, and it’s sucks

Hope you’re better soon Angie

Thanks Tods.

I understand. In March I had my 18th Lit anniversary, almost all of it spent here on the forum. A few of you were here already when I arrived and many showed up shortly after I did. When I say I love this place and all of you I am not joking! To have people in my life--even just this digital life--who value the written word as I do is a great gift. Plus y'all are fun to be around. Even the disagreements are interesting (ok, most of them lol).

And yes I am definitely better. How I managed to navigate Covid 19 as easily as I did is a happy mystery. I still have COPD but I've learned to live with that.

I hope you all are staying safe and healthy. And for those of you like Tods who have young ones at home, I hope your mental health is keeping well too. :D

Yesterday one of the nurses at my facility died from complications of Covid-19. She was 32 and had no underlying conditions. She took care of her elderly parents, both of whom contracted the virus from her. They are alive and, though devasted by their child's death, recovering from the virus.

What a strange, inexplicable time this is. I have pretty advanced COPD and I sailed through being ill. I'm glad to be here, but heartbroken that this sweet young woman is gone. She was a lovely person, professional and efficient, gentle and quick to smile and laugh.

This facility I'm in is a good place. It's not the newest or the wealthiest, but I've never seen a kinder, more supportive staff. We are all hurting today.

RIP Miss K. I hope you're dancing somewhere now.
